When Jimin had finally managed to muster up the courage to come out to his parents, he did it with Jihyun at his side.

(It would have been Yoongi, and Yoongi had even suggested it, but Jimin simply didn't want to overwhelm his parents with so much all at once).

His parents were taken quite by surprise, and his mother admitted to him later on, alone, that she hadn't really ever thought much of either of their (Jimin's or Jihyun's) sexuality much. She told him how she always felt like she wasn't present enough. And Jimin agreed with her. He missed her. And they hugged.

His father took a little longer to come around.

It obviously wasn't quite what he was expecting to hear first thing arriving home after a three-day business trip, but Jimin knew he was tired. Physically, mentally, he was drained. So he gave his father time to mull over it and tried not to speak to him.

His mother and Jihyun were both gone shopping one day, and Jimin was in his room, talking on the phone and giggling with Yoongi as he did his homework. There was a knock at the door. Jimin paused and glanced back. Then he whispered to Yoongi, "Hyung, I have to go. We'll talk later, okay?"

Yoongi didn't pry about it much and hung up only after being sure to tell Jimin "I love you" five times consecutively. Jimin really loved him.

"Come in!"

There was just a two second pause between the time Jimin gave permission to open the door and when the door opened.

Jimin's eyes had widened in surprise. "Dad?"

His father had done something Jimin had never thought he'd see him do. He smiled (no, not that, he's seen his father smile before), but shyly. And he seemed awkward.

"Hey, Jiminie. How are you?"

Jimin scrunched up his nose. "You're being weird."

His dad sighed and slumped down on Jimin's bed. "Just wanted to talk to you. About some things." He paused. Jimin just stared at him as his dad stared into space. "When you – came out. I didn't have much of a reaction." He paused again. He wouldn't look at Jimin. "I hope you didn't take that as a bad thing. As your parent, I'm supposed to love and support you no matter what. And I haven't been very good at that." Jimin started to tear up a little. "No, I've been terrible at it. You and Jihyun deserve way better, but since you can't have better, I'm bettering myself." He looked at Jimin then, right in the eyes. "I want you to know that I do support you, and I do love you. I wouldn't trade you for the world." There were fat tears in Jimin's eyes then, ready to spill over. "I will always support you and love you, no matter what."

Jimin leapt to his dad and engulfed him in the tightest hug he ever had. His dad was taken aback at first, too, but hugged back quickly when he regained composure.

"I love you too," Jimin whispered. He cried.

His dad cleared his throat, but his arms never loosened. "Also, I wanted to let you know that – you know, I haven't discussed this with your mother, so don't say anything, but. I'm quitting my job. I'm gonna try to find one that's more – manageable. One that will allow me to see my family more often."

Jimin only squeezed him tighter and laughed. "Mom is gonna kill you," he said, voice wet.

His dad laughed, too. "Yeah, I know."

His mother and Jihyun brought dinner home an hour or two early, and Jimin thought that maybe this was the right time to break it to them that he has a boyfriend. He was discussing it on the phone with Yoongi, too.
