*** Kinsey's POV ***
I smile to myself as Lex closes the door to leave. Things have been going so well with him. We're just comfortable together. Some guys overstay their welcome, taking over and expecting you to wait on them. Others gets clingy. Lex is neither. He's a partner. He helps with stuff like cleaning up. He hasn't pushed me to talk about work or what I'm going to do with my life.
And the sex is AMAZING. I know I made the right choice in committing to him and thankfully I haven't had to explain myself. I have an exciting opportunity that I wanted to discuss with him this morning before work, especially since afterwards I promised Opal and others from work that we could all finally meet up.
A couple days ago, I had randomly commented on an old friend's Instagram post. She used to dance competitively with me, but stayed with it longer than me. Now, she travels around teaching dance as a guest instructor at studios and resorts. She had just posted her most recent location at a resort in Tulum, Mexico. I couldn't help but respond.
Comment from me: Take me with you! I could use the escape!#calgontakemeaway
She replied in seconds.
Message from Fiona: Kinsey!! Damn girl, it's been awhile! How's life and the pursuit of happiness?
Message from me: Hi Fifi! Life is as you would expect.
Message from Fiona: Haha, no one has called me that in a long time. And I expect your life is crazy just like mine. What are you doing nowadays?
We spent most of that morning catching up. Her life sounds incredible, but I picked up from her that she might be craving something simpler.
Message from Fiona: The travel is amazing and I'm really glad for the opportunity, but I'm getting to that point in life where everyone is pairing up and settling down to start families. I just don't see that happening for me if I keep going like this. Hell every relationship I start has an expiration date because I'm always just passing through.
Message from me: Have you considered opening your own studio and setting down roots?
Message from Fiona: Yeah, but where? And with what capital? Shit like that takes a lot of cash up front. I'm mostly paid in free accommodations and costumes, lol.
I didn't know how to respond. She's right. And those are big hurdles.
Message from Fiona: Hey why don't you come join me down here? I have a little over two weeks left and one of the other instructors sustained an injury while jet skiing so there's an opening. I can pull the necessary strings to get you in. Bring your new guy.
Message from me: Wow, that's quite an offer. I don't think I'm fit to be teaching anyone right now though. I'm sort of rusty.
Message from Fiona: These are mostly rich, white folks who have no rhythm and want to do something "exotic" on vacation, but are too scared to leave the resort. We're talking babies. Like basic counting and the more than the occasional ass grab by the men. Think about it. It gets you out of your stressful setting for a bit and lets you do something you love in a tropical location. Talk to your guy. Let me know by the end of the weekend.
Messge from me: I will. Now you got me jonesing for it!
Message from Fiona: Trust me, it sounds like just what you need.
Message from me: I'm glad we caught up.
Message from Fiona: Me too. You take care of yourself, Kiki.
