*** Kinsey's POV ***
I'm excited for the wedding. As much as I don't want to deal with Jones, I love weddings and this bride and groom have worked hard to make their wedding a true celebration of their love. This is definitely a perk of working with engaged couples and something I'm making a point of incorporating into my business model.
I take a look in the mirror before heading out. Makeup and attire are on point. I decided to leave the scandal at home and opted for the type of dress you where to church...with a shawl...and maybe some tights. Okay maybe it isn't as wholesome as I originally thought, but it has a pretty island vibe with brightly colored flowers against a dark background.
My phone buzzes.
Text from Fiona: Thoughts?
Fiona texted a picture. She too went for a more classic look, but she looks like she's headed for a movie premiere in a long, body-hugging dress with flowing fabric from her shoulders. She's stunning.
Text from me: I'd do you.
Text from Fiona: I don't love it for the beach, but I think it'll be good for later. And it's one of the few light-colored dresses I brought. God, why am I freaking out? Usually I just wear what I want. I don't apologize for who I am!
Text from me: Might it have something to do with Lucas?
Text from Fiona: Shut up.
Text from me: I told you he wouldn't disappoint.
Text from Fiona: It's more than the sex, Kinsey. I like the fact that we talk. He asks questions to get to know me. He's known me for less than a week and was able to keep up with my crazy, overactive brain and keep me calm this afternoon. Do you know how long it has been since a guy has been able to make me feel like this? A really long frickin time!
Text from me: I know. He's a good guy. Maybe a little extreme in his gestures, but...
Text from Fiona: You think?! Lol, see you soon.
I take a selfie of me puckering my lips and send it to Lex.
Text from me: Missed talking to you last night. I hope we can catch up tonight.
He responds almost instantly.
Text from Lex: Missed you too. You look so beautiful. I can't wait to hold you in my arms again.
Text from me: Eight days!
I sigh and make my way to the lobby.
***Lex's POV ***
I smile to myself. We have just landed and Kinsey just set me up beautifully by sending me a picture of what she's wearing tonight. As soon as I get my luggage, I'm going to change and hopefully surprise her right after the wedding. I don't want to be a wedding crasher and I know she's working at the reception, but I'll feel much better if I can have a small window of time to reconnect and explain to her who Lucas really is.
And of course there's a problem going through customs that holds everyone up. By the time I'm through the line and changed, it looks like I'm going to be crashing the reception. I get a taxi and head to the resort.
I quickly get checked in and casually inquire about the wedding, claiming to be with the dance troupe. I mean technically I'm not lying. I'm with a member of the dance troupe, afterall. The valet takes my bag and I don't even bother going to my room. I'm here and I need my girl.
Thankfully the wedding isn't hard to find. It appears cocktail hour is in full swing. I grab a drink from a waiter and walk through the dimly-lit reception, scanning the crowd for my fiery vixen.
