*** Lucas's POV ***
I don't know how to process everything that's happening. One minute I'm the knight-in-shining-armor, saving Kinsey from Jones, the troll parading around as a best man. Then, my sister's ex has appeared and isn't there for Cara, but for Kinsey?
I started piecing things together quickly, only then realizing that Lex is Kinsey's boyfriend. That only weeks after splitting with my sister he already has a serious relationship. Cara was suspicious that he was cheating which makes me accuse Kinsey of being the other woman. But either she didn't know or is good at acting because her eyes widen at my accusation and Fiona has to remind me to cool it.
Cara being Cara escalates things and now I'm carrying a pissed off Fiona out of the reception, Lex is lumbering behind me, and Cara is clinging to his arm like she's the fucking victim in all this. Keep your mouth shut next time, Cara!
I glance around. "Where's Kinsey?"
"She's not your concern." Lex growls at me.
"Well dickhead, she should be someone's because she's gone."
Lex and Fiona both shoot daggers at me. I point to Cara. "Don't blame me. Blame her!"
Cara being Cara doesn't accept the blame. "If she can't handle getting called out for her behavior, then maybe she shouldn't fuck with other people's relationships."
"God, Cara it wasn't like that! I just don't love you anymore!" Lex bluntly tells my sister.
"And watch your mouth, bitch!" Fiona adds.
Malik has had it. "ENOUGH! Yes this is a fucked-up situation, I mean with odds like these y'all should go to Vegas next, but right now we are being unprofessional asshole guests."
He is staring at Fiona who nods her head and looks down with guilt. "I'll go check her room."
Malik looks at us. "Do you three think you can be civil until we get back?"
Lex and I reply at the same time. "I want to help find her."
"I prefer to help look for her." Lex squares up to me, his chest puffed out. I don't back down despite the fact that he's bigger than me. "She's not your concern, Lucas."
"Sure she is, Lex. You don't own her." I respond through gritted teeth.
Malik sighs. "And that's a no. Lex, you're with me. Lucas, go with Fiona. Cara..."
Cara waves her hand dismissively, heading towards the main bar. Fiona is moving and if I'm not quick enough I'm going to lose track of her. "Hey wait up."
Fiona grumbles. "I honestly don't know why you're still here, Lucas."
"Fi?" I stop in my tracks.
"You said some pretty fucked up things to Kinsey without hearing the whole story." She elaborates.
"And that's why I'm still here. I want to hear her out and apologize." I say.
"So Lex used to date your sister?" She asks as we continue moving.
"On and off for five years."
We reach what I assume is Kinsey's room. Fiona knocks loudly. "Kins? It's me. Are you in there? I'm coming in."
"You have a key?" I ask.
"We all have each other's spares. Why do you think I wanted to go to yours last night?" She replies. We enter the room. No Kinsey and her stuff is still there. Fiona goes out through the walk-out patio and peers down the beach. "Let's go check along the beach."
