" Excuse me, is this seat taken."
I looked up to see a pretty slim brunette staring at me with her black sloe eyes. She was chewing gum with her iPhone in one hand connected to headsets that were around her neck and a small potable 'hello kitty' crossbag in the other. She was dressed in blue denim shorts and green tank top that matched the green puma push ins that had fur and bunny ears at the top.
I shook my head in answer and she plopped down Immediately.
" I love your braids." She commented getting my attention again.
"Thanks." I smiled at her as my hand instinctively shot to one of the well spaced sleek long braids. It had taken me two weeks to convince dad to let me plait my hair. I almost rolled my eyes at the memory. According to him doctors never have such long hair.
"Pardon my rudeness, name is Niveah."she smiled politely.
"No problem, am prim, Primrose." I smiled back as the bus started. I was finally leaving and my destination was langebaan so it was a seven hour drive. Goodbye everyone, I smiled to myself. Finally I get to be independent.
"I don't mean any offense but, who of your parents is white?"she asked as her eyes lingered on my light skin. It was not rocket science that am a halfcast.
"It's no offense at all, mom is a Dutch."she nodded.
" That's so lovely." she beamed .This girl seemed to be a ball of happiness and I envied the way she talked to me freely as though I weren't a stranger. She seemed excited not knowing I was feeling down.
Just then my phone vibrated in my crossbag and I fished it out. Of course I had forgot to switch it off. I checked the caller ID and it was leah, another big sister calling. Am sure she was calling to ask if dad was home and if not, she sneaks out, she always does that more Friday nights. I just switched off the phone since ofcourse I  wasn't home so how would I know if dad was there. I made a mental note to change my line when I reached in langebaan. And since my neighbor had pulled the headsets to her ears and slumped back in he seat, I knew conversation was over so I relaxed in my seat too and wondered if I would find a job. What if everything turned crap for me and am forced to come back home. I watched the skyscrapers fall behind us steadily.

"Thank you." I said politely to the receptionist of country inn, Hopefield as I grabbed my room keys from her, I had arrived an hour back and went through a struggle finding a cheap lodge to match my pockets. I took the stairs since the room was on the first floor.
I pushed room 10 door open and stepped into darkness. I fumbled around in search of the light switch which I finally found after tripping three times, why did they put it so far. My eyes squinted as light flooded the room and I looked around.
The room was tiny just with a twin size bed in the left corner of the room next to it a small bedside table with a small lamp. Then the window where I drew the curtains and stared at the lonely road filled with street lights. Though I could see Hopefield town in a distance. then a bathroom to the right. That was it in the room. So I sat down on the small cozy bed covered in white placing my backpack by the window. It seemed it was finally just me and myself so I needed to find a job as soon as possible or I would starve in a couple weeks time. I kicked off my shoes and laid in bed straight away.
