I looked around me and smiled, hopefield was such a pretty little town. I could smell the salty ocean water from where  I was and it was so refreshing. It was already a hot afternoon and I had woken up bright and early to buy a new line, walk around hopefield and also search for a job. Since I had no degree I was searching for a low job such as waitress, cashier, receiptionist, jobs that would fit my highschool diploma. But indeed jobs are hard to find I had been to three restaurants so far and turned down some politely others arrogantly.
I took in the beautiful view around me, watching people rush down the streets like they had no time to waste whatsoever. Roads busy and noisy since it was a Saturday, teenage girls walking from shop to shop giggling amongst themselves, street guys in their corners chatting away carelessly.
I pushed open another bar & restaurant and made my way to the bartender in the bar the left side of the room. He was a fine tall dark Chubby guy about mid twenties. He was bobbing his head to the music playing in the background softly. His eyes moved me up and down as I approached him. It felt like he was undressing me with his eyes which made me uncomfortable so I adjusted my white thin blouse to cover my cleavage.
           " Hi " I started
"Hello, beautiful how may I help you." he flirted smirking at me.
"I am wondering if there are any jobs available here.?"I replied politely.
"Well, you are asking a bartender not the manager?"he scoffed. Oh, so I was supposed to ask if the manager was around. stupid me, I mentally slapped myself.
" I am sorry for the trouble, is the manager in?" I asked.
"No she is not." he replied smoothly. " Why don't you let me buy you a drink, pretty girl and we chat as she comes." he winked at me clearly flirting which made me pissed though I kept my cool.
"No thanks, maybe I will be back later."I turned to start my journey when he stopped me by grabbing my hand. What was his problem?
"Why don't you leave your contact and I call you when she is in so I can see you again?"he smirked at me. I pulled my hand from his grip which wasn't tight thank God.
"No, am good, I will just drop by later."I didn't even say thanks cause he was such a jerk. I mean who grabs a girl just like that? Of course perverts like him.
Actually that reminded me the day I was walking down the streets with Dad and my brother, we were shopping for school in a late afternoon. The city was crowded and so busy with no time to waste or such stuff. And out of nowhere a guy grabbed my hand, am sure my heart skipped a beat. He reeked of cheap spirit and his eyes bloodshot. My heart hammered against my ribcage when I pulled my hand away and he tightened his grip. My eyes flew wide on noticing my dad and brother had moved a distance.
"Come with me, pretty girl."he cooed and I had scrunched my nose in disgust of his breath that reeked wierdly.
"Let go you scum."I struggled."Ricky"I called out my brother since everyone else was busy not even minding us. On seeing us, Ricky ran back and pulled me away from the man.
"Let go of her you freak."he snarled and from then whenever I walked with him anywhere he would pay close attention to me to ensure I was good. But now I had no brother to do that for me. I made a mental note to buy a pepper spray.

I sighed for like the a hundredth time that day. God, I was so tired and my feet were killing me yet my lodge room was still a couple minutes away. I sat down on the lonely pavement and watched the few cars driving down the road. So that was what they meant when they say looking for a job makes you sweat. I had spent the day running around in search for a job but no place gave me even a little hope and now it was like 8pm. Geez how was I gonna survive, the money I had with me could atmost cater me for two weeks minus emergencies.
" Excuse me, miss show me your ID?" I rose my eyes and they landed on an officer.
I raised my eyebrows in question, I hadn't done anything wrong, had I?
"I asked for your ID?"he repeated seriously. I didn't even have an ID.
              "I don't have any, sir."I replied innocently.
"Then your under arrest for loitering, you are idle and disorderly so come with me to the station."
