「Chapter Eight」

Quick Author's Note: Sorry it's taken 7 whole weeks to update! It's kinda hard for me to write straight romance because um-

I recently accepted that I have no romantic attraction to men and I am GAY

But after these weeks of processing and overcoming difficulties, I'm ready to go back into writing. My writing style or writing romance hasn't changed, so it's nothing drastic. But thank you for being patient with me!!

On a side note, I decided to leave out the obstacle course and cavalry battle since it's more of a filler in terms of what the story has. It wouldn't be important and I didn't want to write more than I should. Y/n barely qualified for the cavalry battle, and got 4th place with her team.

Y/n looked at the screen as the brackets popped up.

Shinso versus Midoriya

Todoroki versus Sero

Shiozaki versus Kaminari

Iida versus Hatsume

Ashido versus Aoyoma

(Momo) Yaoyorozu versus Tokoyami

Kirishima versus Bakugo

Tetsutetsu versus (Y/n) Yaoyorozu

She watched as each battle went by, planning her own as she did so. Tetsutetsu could turn himself to steel, so it wasn't like she could extract water from his body. She had the choices of either using a melody or doing typical combat.

When it has finally her turn, Tetsutetsu and Y/n stood across the arena.

"Eighth battle start!"

Tetsutetsu charged towards Y/n, but she quickly moved out of the way and tried to get behind him. He turned back around and threw punches towards her. She looked him in the eyes, predicting which arm he would punch with.

Y/n noticed that she was getting close to the out of bounds line, causing her to place her hands on Tetsutetsu's shoulders and flip over him. She kicked his back with as much force as she could, causing him to stumble out of bounds.

"Tetsutetsu, out of bounds! Y/n Yaoyorozu wins!"

The next rounds of fights proceeded, the matches being:

Midoriya versus Todoroki

Shiozaki versus Iida

Ashido versus Tokoyami

Bakugo versus Y/n

Y/n walked into the restroom while the next round began, knowing that nobody would want to miss it so the bathroom would be surely empty. She adjusted her the bandage over her eye while looking, but suddenly had a stinging headache, causing her to grip her hair and grit her teeth. She used her free hand to hold onto the sink as she cried out. The pain felt like someone had taken a knife to her head. Squeezing her eyes shut, she willed the pain to go away. The rest of the world became detached, all she could concentrate on was the pain that rooted deep in her head.

Words repeated throughout her head, as though screaming.

Take the bandage off! Take it off!!

Her hand shaking, she quickly took off the fabric over her eye, looking in the mirror with blurred vision to see her left eye had turned a bright and glowing purple.

"N.. No.. How?! I was wearing it this whole time, it shouldn't have activated..." Y/n's hand suddenly stiffened, causing her to look down at it and see it start to turn a pitch black color, with purple specs appearing on her skin, "Why right now..?!" She quickly closed her eyes, shutting them tight as she tried to imagine the ocean. The waves. The sky. Anything that would cause her to become calm. Her breathing started to slow, feeling at ease 5 or so minutes later.

The door opened, "Y/n! Where have you been? Is everything okay?"

"Momo.." Y/n turned her head towards her sister, wiping her hair off her face, "It, um.. Never mind." She quickly put her bandage back on, seeing that she had returned back to normal, "Wish me luck. This Bakugo guy seems intense."

Y/n cracked her knuckles, "You're gonna be easy to beat."

"What?! Just you try me!" Bakugo charged towards Y/n, and the closer he got, the more Y/n could see Bakugo's sweat. She dodged his oncoming attack and then opened both her palms and outstretched her hands, and then clenched her fists as she extracted the sweat from his skin.

Gasps and yells erupted from the crowd, Y/n holding the sweat in place. It didn't smell like ordinary sweat, however, it smelled almost like... caramel?

"What the hell?!" Bakugo tried to form another explosion in his hand, but only small sparks erupted from his palms. He ran towards Y/n, but she pushed the liquid towards Bakugo's face, causing him to close his eyes. She grabbed his arm and twisted it behind his back, pinning him to the ground.

Beneath her bandage, she could feel her left eye twitch. She shook her head, and used her free hand to take out enough fluid from Bakugo to cause him to be lightheaded. His eyes became hazy, and he fainted from dehydration.

"Bakugo is down! Y/n Yaoyorozu wins!!" Midnight announced, the crowd erupting in a loud cheer.

"Congratulations, Y/n! You're in the top four!! That's amazing." Momo hugged Y/n with a smile, causing her to hug back.

"T-Thanks.."

"Are you sure you're okay? Did something happen?" Momo looked at her sister, as she held onto her shoulders, "Something's off about you. Usually you'd be all confident and start cussing people out, what's going on?"

Y/n gulped, "Um.. My eye. I couldn't keep it under control and I almost transformed."

"What?!" Momo tried to keep her voice quiet, "Weren't you wearing your bandage?"

"I was, I swear! I don't know what happened."

"What if it happens again when you're fighting? You're going against Tokoyami, and if you win, then you're most likely going to go up against Shoto Todoroki! You already don't like him, so if you get too upset then it's going to happen if the bandage doesn't work like before!" Momo sighed worryingly, "And don't you remember what happened when it got out of control last time? You.." She whispered, "You almost killed Tanako... You were able to, I don't know.. like teleport through the air and had insane speed and bloodlust."

"Well what am I supposed to do?! I can't drop out, not at this rate. I have to keep going." Y/n said with desperation.

"The match between Todoroki and Iida is happening right now, and it might be over soon. We need to figure this out now before your match begins."

As though jinxing it, the match between Todoroki and Iida had ended, with Todoroki winning.

Y/n groaned, "Great.. I can't give up now. I'll figure it out as I go, okay? I'll use a melody to put Tokoyami and his shadow bird thing to sleep and then melt Todoroki's ice."

"You realize he's using his other side right? Fire?"

"Then I can use the melted ice to fight back against it. Don't worry, I got this."

Momo crossed her arms, "I hope you're right..."
