Invincible ~Shoto Todoroki x Reader~

「Chapter Nine」

"Tokoyami is down! Y/n wins!"

Y/n could feel her heart pounding in her chest. She had made it to the final 2 in the U.A. Sports Festival, which was a huge accomplishment. However, with her power not quite under control, it made her slightly scared. She tightened her fist and closed her eyes to calm herself down.

For the first time in her life, her parents and family were finally looking at her, and not just Momo. She stood at the threshold, her eyes now open as she looked at where her family was sitting, but saw that they were gone. Her eyes darted around the area, seeing them leave into the hallways. She gulped and adjusted the bandage over her eye.

Y/n felt her shoulders drop as she bit her lip anxiously, but she quickly shook it off and muttered to herself, "I've gone this long without them, why would I need them now..?"

And finally, her queue was called for her to enter the arena. She walked up to the center, the crowd cheering as she looked Todoroki dead in the eye.

"The final fight! Y/n Yaoyorozu versus Shoto Todoroki!" Midnight announced, "Ready... Start!"

Todoroki was quick, he formed a large thing of ice that wrapped around half the stage. He skated along it but Y/n placed her hand on the ice, causing it to melt. He quickly got off the structure as Y/n swung her arms around in an almost hypnotic motion, now having tons of water to use against him.

She ran along the outskirts of the stage, separating the ice into sections, and then using her breath to freeze it. She had shards of ice surround Todoroki, but he used his fire to melt it.

Y/n quickly gathered the water back together, the two once again facing off on either side. He started to shoot fire at her relentlessly, but Y/n made the water into a shield that could protect her. With each push of fire that hit her shield, it started to evaporate away, leaving Y/n defenseless.

She dodged each attack of fire, getting closer and closer to him as she skillfully dodged. The crowd was going wild with anticipation. Y/n brought her hand out and extracted the sweat from Todoroki's left side, making him suddenly become weaker on that side. She was so focused on it, that she didn't notice an extra shot of fire headed towards her own left side. The crowd suddenly gasped as Y/n's bandage caught aflame, making her shriek as she quickly took it off and used her foot to stamp out the fire.

She closed her eye, feeling the stinging of the burn on her skin. Y/n suddenly felt ice around her legs, seeing Todoroki come closer. She quickly unfroze it and splashed him with the water from it, making his face and upper body soaking wet. She blew on him, causing the water to freeze, but he used his right side to melt it.

The competitors were now having a full on fist fight, forcing Y/n to have to open her left eye. They both swung punches and kicks at each other, but they were in syncing movements, strangely, that neither of them managed to land a hit. Y/n backflipped away from him as he shot fire at her, causing the crowd to cheer.

Y/n suddenly felt a stinging headache, causing her to place her hand over her left eye, but for some reason, she couldn't force herself to close it.

"Y/n Yaoyorozu seems to be wounded from Shoto Todoroki's attack! Will she be okay?! Will Todoroki be victorious?!" Present Mic announced through the mic, "This battle is intense!"

Todoroki once again froze her legs, this time reaching up to her thighs. He let out a breath, and prepared another attack as he walked up closer to her.

Y/n struggled against the ice, not wanting to lower her left hand, but if she wanted to win, she had no choice. She hesitatingly lowered her hand, revealing her purple iris to Todoroki, causing him to squint his eyes with raised brows.

With ease, Y/n broke through the ice as if it was as light as leaves.

In the crowd, Yaoyorozu gnawed on her nail, "She's letting it take over..."

Her mother let out a shaky breath while her husband comforted her by rubbing her back.

"I'm sure she'll be okay, honey."

Y/n charged at Todoroki with greater speed, making it harder for him to dodge her punches and attacks.

"Y/n Yaoyorozu charges back with more strength than before!! She seems very determined to win!" Present Mic exclaimed.

"We haven't seen much of her abilities up until now. It's hard to tell who will win.." Aizawa said.

As though the world had slowed down, Y/n landed a punch straight to Todoroki's face. Right before, he looked into her eyes, an unfamiliar entity behind it. He was shocked, unsure, and almost.. scared. It was confusing, and he had no idea what was happening with her.

He fell to the floor, but got back up.

Y/n ran a hand through her hair to wipe it off her face.

Todoroki let out a breath, and then surrounded the stage with ice, making it almost impossible for the crowd to see them.

"Huh?! What's this?! What's this?!" Present Mic yelled.

Y/n touched the ice, forming into water. She created a giant wave, and sent barrages of water towards Todoroki. Her attacks were fast and merciless. She formed the water around her, charging the large wave and herself at him.

Right before her final attack, they made strong eye contact. He looked into her purple eye and then to her arm. It was a jet black color with purple specs, he looked back at her, and then was knocked out of bounds from the water.

Y/n loudly gasped as her eye reverted back to normal, as well as her arm. She coughed violently and let the water fall to the ground.

"Amazing!! Shoto Todoroki is out of bounds, making Y/n Yaoyorozu the winner!!"
