The fire I had seen off in the distance had made me so nervous I couldn't sleep, and I think my restlessness had caused Mordred to stay awake with me. He cried a few times in the night, I checked him after each cry until I realized that he was crying because he was sleepy. I decided to sing to him,
"I did my best to notice
When the call came down the line
Up to the platform of surrender
I was brought but I was kindAnd sometimes I get nervous
When I see an open door
Close your eyes, clear your heart
Cut the cordAre we human or are we dancer?
My sign is vital, my hands are cold
And I'm on my knees looking for the answer
Are we human or are we dancer?Pay my respects to grace and virtue
Send my condolences to good
Hear my regards to soul and romance
They always did the best they couldAnd so long to devotion
You taught me everything I know
Wave goodbye, wish me well
You've gotta let me goAre we human or are we dancer?
My sign is vital, my hands are cold
And I'm on my knees looking for the answer
Are we human or are we dancer? Will your system be alright
When you dream of home tonight
There is no message we're receiving
Let me know, is your heart still beating? Are we human or are we dancer?
My sign is vital, my hands are cold
And I'm on my knees looking for the answerYou've gotta let me know
Are we human or are we dancer?
My sign is vital, my hands are cold
And I'm on my knees looking for the answer
Are we human or are we dancer? Are we human or are we dancer?
Are we human or are we dancer?"When I had finished Mordred was soundly asleep. I went back to my bed and tried my best not to disturb him again. That's how the night past in an uneasy awakened state while I wished for sleep. I didn't move again until the sun came up, it was my token towards Mordred for keeping him up with my wondering and worries. I feared, an un rational fear for a reason I did not know.
When the sun rises I got up, leaving the baby sleeping in his crib, and make breakfast. Once the eggs and few scraps of bacon are done Alden comes into the room and sits down for breakfast. The milk is boiling so I pour it into a bowl and let it cool as I went and got Mordred, I pour the milk a small amount at a time into a rag and let the child suck the milk out of it. I know it's not the same as breast milk but it had to do until the child could eat more solid foods.
When Alden had left for work, he was taking care of Uther today, I took Mordred up to the opened corridor and sat on the bench. I noticed that the smoke was gone but when I looked out from the window I couldn't see anything that wasn't always there so I fed Mordred until he couldn't eat anymore, burped him, and sang Fort Minor's 'Where'd You Go' as he drifted off to sleep.
"Where'd you go?
I miss you so,
Seems like it's been forever,
That you've been gone. She said "Some days I feel like shit,
Some days I wanna quit, and just be normal for a bit, "
I don't understand why you have to always be gone,
I get along but the trips always feel so long,
And, I find myself trying to stay by the phone,
'Cause your voice always helps me to not feel so alone,
But I feel like an idiot, workin' my day around the call,
But when I pick up I don't have much to say,
So, I want you to know it's a little fucked up,
That I'm stuck here waitin', at times debatin',
Tellin' you that I've had it with you and your career,
Me and the rest of the family here singing "Where'd you go?"I miss you so,
Seems like it's been forever,
That you've been gone.
Where'd you go?
I miss you so,
Seems like it's been forever,
That you've been gone,
Please come back home...You know the place where you used to live,
Used to barbecue up burgers and ribs,
Used to have a little party every Halloween with candy by the pile,
But now, you only stop by every once and a while,
Shit, I find myself just fillin' my time,
With anything to keep the thought of you from my mind,
I'm doin' fine, and I'm plannin' to keep it that way,
You can call me if you find that you have something to say,
And I'll tell you, I want you to know it's a little fucked up,
That I'm stuck here waitin', at times debatin',
Tellin' you that I've had it with you and your career,
Me and the rest of the family here singing "Where'd you go?"I miss you so,
Seems like it's been forever,
That you've been gone.
Where'd you go?
I miss you so,
Seems like it's been forever,
That you've been gone,
Please come back home...I want you to know it's a little fucked up,
That I'm stuck here waitin', no longer debatin',
Tired of sittin' and hatin' and makin' these excuses,
For why you're not around, and feeling so useless,
It seems one thing has been true all along,
You don't really know what you've got 'til it's gone,
I guess I've had it with you and your career,
When you come back I won't be here and you can sing it...Where'd you go?
I miss you so,
Seems like it's been forever,
That you've been gone.
Where'd you go?
I miss you so,
Seems like it's been forever,
That you've been gone,
Please come back home...
Please come back home...
Please come back home...
Please come back home...
Please come back home..."As I get finished I hear, "You still sing beautifully."
