"damn, another missing person?" you heard your mom ask from downstairs.
of course, right after you move to a new town six people decide to just magically go missing and there's a dead boy found at the pool.
"we should move back to summers falls." your dad chimed in, causing you to smile widely.
sprinting down the stairs you dashed into to the living room where your parents were talking. "gladly. let's pack now, what do you say?"
"no." your mom told you in disbelief that you'd actually like to move back to your old town.
"why not?" you started, ready to list the reasons on why you should move back. "there's nothing for us here so we could move back, we're not even fully unpacked so we'd just have to pack up the few things we unpacked and we could buy a house and continue our lives where we left them off in summers falls." you continued, trying your best to pull off puppy-dog eyes.
"(y/n), you have friends here, and your mom and i are finally getting the hang of things here, our lives are finally getting better." your dad told you, placing down his coffee mug on the table.
"dad, i don't have friends here, and you and mom could easily pick up what you're 'getting the hang of' here and drop it back home."
"i don't want to hear anymore of this nonsense, (y/n). go to your room." your mom snapped, causing a shiver to go down your spine. nodding quickly, you sprinted up the stairs and into your room before you could hear the yelling ensue again.
"damn it, of course nothing goes my way." you sighed to yourself, walking over to your desk and sitting down. pulling open your laptop you decided to just watch netflix. "time to let my saturday go to waste." you muttered, staring at the netflix screen as it loaded.
---
"four seasons of glee and three bowls of ramen and two boba drinks into this wonderful saturday, and i'm already tired." you muttered to yourself, sighing as you closed your computer and gazed over to the last bit of boba you had left. "save it- save it for desperate times." you instructed yourself, looking back at your closed computer, realising you had math homework due soon.
"hey sweetheart," you heard your dad speak up from behind you, causing you to jump in your seat. "sorry about your mom earlier, but you know it's not her fault. it's our marriage in general."
"what?" you managed to choke out, feeling tears form in your eyes.
was he talking about a possible divorce?
"sweetie, i'm sorry." your dad whispered, tears slowly dripping down his face as well.
"yeah, i am too." you snapped, suddenly overwhelmed with anger. grabbing your phone, jacket, and sneakers from your bed you ran out of your room and out of the house, sliding your shoes on as you did so.
muttering angrily as you walked down the street, you pulled out your phone and scrolled through your limited contacts. deciding on someone after a period of time, you texted them quickly, just a simple message of 'need someone to talk to, can you come pick me up?'.
and as if it were magic, stiles was outside your house in minutes.
"(y/n), what happened?" he asked the moment he got out of his car and noticed you crying, racing over to you and pulling you into a hug.
"divorce. i think?" you answered quietly, trying not to let the sound of your tears grow too loud.
"oh, let's go to the rink. that cheered me up when it was needed." he told you, grabbing your hand and leading you to the side of his jeep.
hopping in quickly you noticed your mom staring at the window, staring at you, looking as though she'd like to kill you.
"let's go." you pleaded, staring back at her. slowly, you watched as your house fade away and the rest of the world came into view.
"hey, so why'd you text me out of all people?" stiles asked after a period of silence, causing you to look over at him, overly confused.
"you're the closet thing i have to a friend." you mumbled blankly.
it was true, you didn't really have friends, friends are really useless too.
"you know what, drop me off at the park please?" you asked, watching as the passing colours slowed down and stiles pulled into the beacon hills park.
"stay safe." he told you as you hopped out and made your way off to the park.
rather get eaten by that mountain lion than 'stay safe'
as you walked deeper into the park, a small smile grace your face as you felt the world slip away and peace and tranquility overcome you. it was quiet, no one else in the park with you at the moment, so you didn't have to worry about people seeing you or running into people you know.
peace.
the last thing you could recall before blacking out, feeling your body against the soft grass.
