Chapter 9: Mistaken for a Blue Hedgehog

Sonic, Tails, and Chip headed back to Spagonia where it was nightime. Sonic had already turned into his werehog form and he was getting ready for his next mission. Beating baddies in the corridors of Spagonia. Sonic used his Werehog abilities to his advantage, beating up the monsters while using his stretchy arms to cling onto walls and traverse through the rooftops of Spagonia carefully. Sonic made it through and successfully defeated all the monsters in sight.

Once Sonic headed back to downtown Spagonia, suddenly he saw a familiar pink hedgehog run toward him.

"Found you Sonic!" "I've been looking for you forever!" Amy ran up to him and hugged him.

"Hey let me go!" Sonic said in a calm voice.

"You're crazy if you think you get away from Amy Rose and umm."

She looked up at him and did not recognize him.

"Who are you?!" She pushed him away.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry! I completely mistook you for someone else!" "That's so strange, I could've sworn it was him!"

Sonic shrugged towards Chip's direction.

"Anyways, I'm really sorry! See you later!" She ran away looking frightened and embarassed.

Sonic paused and thought of what just happened. He was saddened at the fact that Amy did not recognize him and she had to see him in "this" form.

"Well, that was weird. How come that girl didn't know you were you Sonic?" "I mean, I guess you are kind've of you know... and these guys." Chip showed his fangs.

Saddened by Chip's comments, Sonic sighed and started walking towards the other direction. Chip immediately took back what he said.

"Oh I mean, d-don't worry. Hey! You only look really scary Sonic but on the inside you're the same as ever. I guarantee it okay?" "Soonic! Cheer up! Chocolate! Want some chocolate?"

Sonic nodded his head no and kept on walking.

Sonic and Chip walked together for a while and no words were spoken. The atmosphere was really awkward.

"Sonic I didn't mean to insult you like that."

"I know bud. I just hate the fact that she had to see me like this!"

"I know but from my first impression of her, I think she'll still love you no matter what."

Sonic blushed at Chip's comment.

Sonic and Chip kept walking in Downtown Spagonia and stopped when they saw some of the civilians having a dance party; acting in a strange behavior. One of the people Sonic saw was Amy. She was twirling with the Professor's assistant and was not enjoying it.

"C"mon babe, let's dance the night away!" The Professor's Assistant said to Amy.

"Hey, let me go!" She yelled.

"Well that's interesting." Chip said while taking pictures of the civilians.

"No, something's not right here." Sonic said.

Suddenly monsters appeared and popped out of the civilian's bodies. All of the civilians fell down while Amy twirled off in the distance.

"Whoah! It's a carnival of creeps down there!" Chip said.

Sonic then proceeded to battle the monsters. He fought every single one of them in timed sequences. Chip's camera also came in handy with defeating the baddies. After he was finished, the civilians woke up from their slumber.

"What? What was I just doing?" The Professor's Assistant asked.

Sonic then held Amy up from the ground. When she turned over to look at him, he quickly parkoured his way onto the buildings. Chip followed.

"Just now, was that Sonic!"

"Ah, that should calm things down around here! Chalk another one up for Sonic!" The Professor said on the sidewalk.

"You know Sonic?" Amy asked and walked over to him.

"Well of course! He was just here just a moment ago!"

"What's happened to him? Please tell me everything you know?" Amy pleaded with the Professor.

"I'll happily explain everything! Over a plate of cucumber sandwiches!"

Amy took Professor Pickle to his office where he explained what happened to Sonic and the state of the world.

"So you're telling me Sonic turning into that beast has something to do with those shady monsters!"

"Yes, Dr. Eggman blasted him with the Dark Gaia Energy making him turn into the Werehog. This form only comes out at night when the monsters come out. Sonic and the Dark Gaia monsters have similar abilities but the difference is he's using them for good."

"Ugh that Eggman! How could he do something so horrible!"

"He wants to know the secrets to the Gaia Manuscripts so he can unleash Dark Gaia in its perfect form."

"Sonic won't let that happen. I know he won't!"

"Your friend is doing just fine but there's not that much more time left until Dark Gaia is fully awakened."

"Sonic can take him! I fully trust him! I always have!"

"I suppose so!"

"Thank you for your time Professor Pickle! It was nice talking with you!"

"As with you also! Have a good night Amy!"

"Thank you! I will!" Amy walked out of Professor Pickle's office and hung around the campus. She saw Sonic and Chip nearby.

"Hey Sonic!"

"Amy?"

"I know. Professor Pickle told me everything!"

"So you don't see me any differently?"

"Of course not Sonic! Even if you are a monster you still have your compassionate heart on the inside!"

"Chip mentioned that from earlier. I'm not completely evil."

"You can never be! You have too pure of a heart to be that!"

"Thank you Amy, for always believing in me!"

"Anytime Sonic!" She winked at him.

"That reminds us. We need to go see the Professor now for our next mission."

"Good luck you two!"

"Thank you Amy! I will see you around!"

Sonic and Chip go to the Professor's office.

"Hey Professor did you see all that happened back there?" Sonic said.

"I did. Very good job Sonic! At this rate, you'll have the whole world back together in no time. On that note, here is your next mission. Head to the continent of Chu-nan and find the Elder Gatekeeper. He is in charge of the Gaia Pheonix. Because of Dark Gaia's power, it made the bird go all berserk and now Chu-nan is not as peaceful as it once was. Go there, defeat the Gaia Pheonix and make sure the Elder is safe. When you defeat the Pheonix, it will grant you the key to the next temple. Do you understand?"

"Loud and clear Professor!" "C'mon Chip let's go tell Tails!"

"Okay!" "Thanks Professor!"

"You're welcome you two! Make sure to keep me updated on your adventure!"

"We will. Bye!"

Sonic and Chip went off to tell the news to Tails. Tails, Sonic, and Chip went off on the Tornado 1 and headed over to Chu-nan.
