I sat cross legged on the floor, waiting with my lips pursed.Everyone around me stared down at the floor or in their laps. Ethan sat the farthest away from me, keeping his distance. Serves him right for everything he has done to me.
Sammy said he would go get Kas, who we all heard, had an outburst that morning. Sammy has been very supportive to the whole crew lately, comforting us, and making us some delicious desserts. Who knew someone could like Sammy could bake? Well, in the end, he is a lot like his father, Frank Zhang. His broad shoulders, the sweet smile on his face. Perfect.
Kas throws open the door, lugging Sammy along with her like she went to get him more than he went to get her.
She smiled, "What's everyone standing around for? Let's get going!" I wasn't sure what to think of Kas. She isn't a bad person, but she did kiss the only person in the world that cares about me. My stomach clenches, suddenly getting tighter. This is the first time Kas and Ethan have been in the same room together since they were possessed.
I bit my lip as Kas sat down next to me. "Um," She said, "We are leaving right?" We all nod. Other than her, we haven't spoken. How could she be in such a good mood? We have literally had to fight gods, our possessed friends, and be in a place we don't call home without an adult. I don't know how she can be so cheerful, she is the youngest out of all of us. She must be homesick. Or was it something Sammy said?
C.J. cleared his throat,
"Well we better make a plan."
After a lot of talking, we make a plan: charmspeak us an automobile of some sort, drive it as far as we can go before a monster attacks us, and somehow make it to California tomorrow. Wow. We are demigods on a mission and not many of those missions are actually accomplished, but almost all our parents came back from missions, well, mostly alive.
We grabbed the little amount of stuff we had in our rooms, and headed for the lobby. A man with a kind grin planted across his face stood by the door next to Kas. They talked for a minute then she headed over to us, jogging. Kas, while we packed, said she had to go say bye to someone, it must have been him. The man held a small book in his hand, then saw me looking at it and shoved it in his pocket. He waved to Kas one more time then turned on his heel and walked over to the employees only door.
Kas's eyes meet mine as if asking a question, but I shrug. I didn't want to talk to her. I lose her gaze when Sammy calls her over.

Lacy screeched to stop in front of us in the "Rent a RV" parking lot. Riley stood nearby charmspeaking the car dealer. She gestured to us and then to the car. Then gave the man a smile and reached back to scratch the back over her neck. Her straight blond hair barely touched her shoulders when she nodded. The man shakes her hand and walks away. Riley jogged to us and gave us a thumbs up.
"Road trip!" She laughed.
I raised my eyebrows,"Excuse me, weren't we all just in close quarters with each other."
Riley frowned, "Charmspeaking is harder than you think, especially when you are doing it to a poor man who's just trying to make some money." I shrugged and pulled myself into the giant van, the others following my lead.
The inside of the RV was homey and snug. Windows were wrapped around the walls in every pace they could be. Lacy was in the front seat and I watched as C.J. planted a kiss on her forehead and sat next to her in the passenger seat.
