The Moment.

"Demyx, stop running!"

"Hey dude, slow down! Don't hurt yourself!"

Everyone in the hall kept telling at me, but my legs wouldn't stop. Everything was about to end. It was all over. He had to be there for the big finale.

Roxas told me this morning that he was talking to Zexion about me, and Zexion wanted to speak with me this morning.

Roxas... He must've ruined it. He ruined it all for me. Right?

Running. Running. Running. Footsteps grow louder. Splashes of water hit against my ankles as my boots hit puddles. Rain's pouring down hard, as I dash through the dark and quiet night. The Owl's don't move, the moon shines down, my legs feel completely numb. I can't miss it. This is the moment. The moment where I realize the truth. The moment where it all ends. This is the moment.

And I'm gonna miss it.

"Zexion!" I burst into the library, startling everyone inside. I ignored all of the comments people made as I bolted up the steps to the second floor.

"Demyx?"

"Roxas told me... You wanted to speak with me." I gasped for breath as I explained.

"He must've been lying."

"Oh..." Reality hit me like a bullet, as I turned around to walk away. Why were my hopes so high anyway? Why did I overreact? I guess it's because I've been dreaming of the moment for the longest time now...

"But I'm glad he told you that. I do enjoy your company."

"You... Do?" I turned myself around to face him once again, a pure expression of shock written all over my face.

"Yes. Why are you so shocked?"

"I thought I annoyed you..."

"Maybe your persistence is what I like about you."

I stepped closer to him.

"You never gave up on trying to be my friend. That's nice, wouldn't you say?"
He organized a little bit of the bookshelf he was standing at.

"Y-Yeah... We're complete opposites. I never thought we'd actually get along." I was being honest, I really was.

"I'm glad we have." Zexion turned all of his attention towards me, as I barely managed to hold back the blush which wanted to appear.

Is he reading me like a book right now? I have no idea...

But, no. If this isn't the moment... Then I will make it the moment.

There's no turning back now. It's now or never.

"... Zexion?"

"Yes? What is it?" He looked at me with a confused expression, he was rarely ever confused.

"I have... Something I need to tell you."

"... Go on." He probably already knew, he was just waiting. Waiting for me to confess and screw up everything so he'll leave. He'd never like me back.

"I don't know how to put this." I thought out loud.

"Just say it."

"D-Do you secretly hate me?" Just great. Nice job, Demyx. You blurted out the wrong thing. Now he's definitely gonna hate you more than he did before.

"Why would I hate you?"

"Uh..." There's literally nothing I can say to redeem myself. I screwed up.

"You think I hate you..." He easily put two and two together.

"Well, yeah... Sorry."

"Why? Do you think Roxas hates you? Don't you see me like your other friends?" He was pressuring me for an answer.

"... Not exactly."

"Right... We're not as good of friends as you are with most of your friends..." Zexion came to a false conclusion.

"No, it's not that!" I took a step backwards nervously.

Why is it so hard to confess to someone? It's just three simple words...

"Forgive me if I'm wrong... Do you have a crush on me?"

I was shocked, even though I shouldn't have been. Zexion certainly isn't dense at all.

"Bullseye!" I managed to get out before my mouth completely froze and the blush I'd been holding back finally appeared on my face.

"..."

It was silent. Completely silent. I messed up, didn't I?

"You like me?" Zexion acted like he misheard.

"I love you!" I finally blurted it out, looking for any way to escape the situation.

"So it really was love..." I heard Zexion mumble to himself, but I decided not to ask about it.

"I love you too."

"What?" My eyes stared right into his, I was hoping I hadn't misheard anything.

Zexion walked up to me, and he hugged me tightly.

"I-Is this a dream?" I hugged him back.

"If this is a dream, I hope I never wake up. Because I've been dreaming of this moment for a while." Zexion stopped hugging me and we separated.

"C-Can I kiss you?" I nervously smiled, but at the same time I was really happy.

"Sure, Demyx." Zexion chuckled at my nervous question.

And so I kissed him. It was a really short kiss, but it was sweet.

"So, uh... What does this mean?" I realized just how clueless I really am when it comes to love.

"... Trust me, I'm just as clueless as you."

We both laughed together over how unknowing we really are about love.

Are we dating? How am I supposed to know? All I know is that I'm happy.

I don't have to dream anymore.

I've been dreaming of you and I together... And now, we finally will be.
