Elijah

I have no idea what's going on.

Yesterday Alice insisted that we wait until we have everything figured out to even consider getting married, and today she sends me out of the house, saying I had to go wedding suit shopping, because, and I quote, "You can't be prepared enough."...

Yeah, right.

But, even though I only reluctantly leave her side, I do it anyway. Because I love this woman, and if it makes her feel less anxious, then why the hell not. She's worked a lot on herself over the past weeks, finding a therapist and now waiting for her appointment with the psychiatrist to figure out the right dose of antidepressant.

As always, she has taken it all on the chin, even though I know how much she struggles on a daily basis. I'm glad she allows herself to open up to me when she feels the need to, but I don't pressure her to do so. We've learned the hard way that forcing this stuff doesn't end well.

"Alright, what about this one?" Mason asks, holding up a pitch black tuxedo with only a white tie around the neck.

"That's why you're my best friend, and best man," I laugh. "Buy it."

"What? Dude, that's not how it works. You have to try it on and get it fitted and stuff."

"Why?" I ask, being absolutely confused with that concept.

"Man, I don't know. I just know that's how it works."

"Well, it's stupid... I'll just buy it."

"Hell no, Alice is one scary ass woman. I'll not let you show up on her perfectly planned wedding with a suit that doesn't fit."

Fuck. He's right about that.

I can't help but sigh, absolutely not feeling in the mood to go through any of this shit. But then again... Alice wanted a perfect wedding, she'll get a perfect wedding.

And so I let the tailor do his work, which admittedly takes a lot longer than I thought it would. We spend half the day in that damn shop, and then Mason even pays the tailor to actually sew the damn thing today.

Why? No idea. I just know that it's fishy, and even though I think I should suspect something, I really wouldn't know what it is.

"Alright sir, can you try it on one more time now? It should be done, but it's better if I see it on you..." the tailor explains, and I only nod, heaving a sigh as I try to get into this monster of a suit.

It takes ages until it finally fits the way it's supposed to, and Mason only laughs when I step out of the changing room, the smug grin on his face immediately making me want to slap him right here and now.

"Perfect. Now, let's go!" He glances at his watch, but right as I turn around to get changed into my normal clothes he just shakes his head. "What are you doing? Leave it on. Alice will be delighted to see that."

"What? Mason, what the fuck is up with you today?"

"Nothing, I'm just saying. Let's go, Mona's waiting for me and Alice surely won't mind seeing you in that..."

I shake my head again, feeling absolutely dumbfounded by this weird ass day.
