Moving your stuff back and forth really makes you question whether you really need this much stuff.
And, it makes you paranoid about losing things.
The good thing is that I have a lot of money saved up from my job at the campus bookstore so I can buy my very own apartment. I can't even hold in my excitement.
It's always been appealing to me to have my own place. And although it's going to be hard and all, I think I can do it. I'm ready to start my adult life, even if I've already been an adult for a while now.
Besides, this is really important to me. I saved up this money myself; I don't usually like using my parents' money. Being a CEO is a high paying job, and my dad was a great businessman. We had enough money to live in a mansion and yet we lived in a modest two bedroom house because we wanted to. He was always humble; I want to be humble.
Zach feels the same way, and he never sold his quaint house, he simply rented it out to his friend Jason.
I helped Zach pack his things, and even though we got distracted a little, we managed to finish packing within a few days. We rented a large moving truck and surprisingly everything fit. Both of our spaces came furnished, so luckily we didn't have to transport any large furniture, just boxes. While someone drove our moving truck, we drove our cars back.
I smile at my charm bracelet. He added a tassle charm as a graduation present.
"Ready to go home?" He asked. I take a look at his old apartment, sighed, then looked at Zach. He smiled at me and readjusted his glasses.
"Yes."
Since I had not officially bought an apartment, my mom told me to come live with her until I found a place, if I still wanted a place, she added. I rolled my eyes at the thought. Not my first choice, but my options are limited. It's not like I could live with Zach. Not since I stormed out four years ago. No, it's not time. We don't need to be back where we were five years ago.
Zach helped me unload my things out of the truck. Walking inside the house brought back old memories, although I'm not familiar with this house. (You should remember, my mom sold our house and bought a new place for reasons I still don't understand). I do notice that there's some packed boxes and a suitcase near the door. I shrug it off. She probably ordered some things.
"Oh, I missed LA air." He said, carrying my box full of underwear and bras. Oh.
"Oh yeah, nothing like car exhaust and greasy food smell." I laugh while taking the box from his arms. He gave me a puzzling look while I blushed. My mom was at work, so it was just us.
"Have you found a job yet?" I asked Zach.
"A few actually. I'm not sure which to pick." Shortly after we decided to move back, he told me he already applied to some positions here in LA. I guess some part of him wanted to come back, or maybe he wanted to be prepared if we did come back.
"Easy, which one pays better?" I said. He chuckled. We paused just past the front door.
"The one where I am Chief Financial Officer of EcoTech." My eyes widen and he gives me a small, bashful smile.
"CFO?" I ask. He nods. I squeeze him in a hug. "That's amazing! Wow, and for EcoTech? That's a big deal! We should celebrate!" He laughs.
"I haven't accepted the job yet, speedy gonzalez." I playfully push him.
"Why not? It sounds amazing, even better than the water district job. What's wrong?" his face darkens. "Zach, just because we're back, doesn't mean we are taking the company-"
