I'm still holding Zach's hand while we're sitting through Dr. Avery's speech. I'm not even paying attention.

Any sane individual would undoubtedly have their full attention on Benson

Avery, but I think it's clear I'm insane.

My heart is racing, I'm breathing sighs of relief and all the tension is falling off my body, and it's because I'm on a far deeper level with Zach now. Finally, I am there.

I can't listen to Benson's marvelous speech about Africa, because Zach's hand is in mine, and there's a different look on us now. It's obvious because Will is giving us weird looks. Those few minutes in the hall seemed minuscule, but

they, were literally, life changing.

"Zach, are you ready?" Leslie asks him. What? Ready for what? And can she not see that he just passed out on stage less than twenty minutes prior?

"N-No, I'm sorry, can you just go ahead without me?" He whispers, while taking a new champagne glass and drinking from it.

"Of course." She says before walking gracefully up to Cordelia. I didn't even realize Benson was done speaking.

"Ready for what?" I ask Zach. He looks at me and purses his lips.

"Hello everyone. Thank you, Cordelia, for the beautiful introduction. My colleague Zach Taylor should be up here, but isn't up to it-"

Zach scoffs and rubs his forehead. I'm still not sure what's going on.

"-so I will announce a project in progress of EcoTech and Rameson's. As you all know, typhoid is -"

"Oh, you're still going with the plan. " I say to Zach. He nods.

"Emma, let's go." he says quickly, and kind of loudly.

"Zach we can't just leave! It's rude. "I say in a harsh whisper.

"Please?" He pleads, but it's not a defeated, sorrow pleading. It's an "I'm bored" pleading, like he's himself again. I don't know if that worries me more than how he was before.

"Zach, it's almost over. Come on, it's once every five years." I tell him with a smile. He chuckles and drinks more champagne. By the time I direct my attention back to Leslie Sarabi, she's halfway done speaking.

Maybe I should have just left with Zach, to be honest, the rest was pretty boring. The champagne wasn't that great anyway.

They announced the silent auction winners, announced how much money was made, and a surprise present was awarded to Cordelia Burk, which was cute. Once all that was done, we were free to go.

"Yes!" Zach exclaims when everyone gets up from their seats. I slap him on the arm with my clutch wallet.

"Zach! Sh! What's wrong with you?" I ask in a harsh whisper, completely horrified by his behavior.
