WARNING THIS CHAPTER DOES MENTION TEEN PREGNACY. IT THIS MAKES YOU INCOMFORTABLE THE PLEASE DON'T NOT CONTINUE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
"Come on mom! Please, please, please!" Sheva begged her mom. She was invited to a sleepover at Claire's tomorrow, but her mom would not let her go because Chris was there and he was going to have some of his friends over too. Sheva just got out of school and her mom came to pick her up and take her home.
"Sheva begging is only going to get you in trouble. She has a brother and I don't want you over there! What don't you understand?" Her mom told her angrily.
"Mom-," Sheva whined but she was cut off by her mother's yelling.
"I swear if you ask again you will not be leaving the house for the rest of the month!"
Sheva was quiet for the rest of the ride home. She felt like crying but didn't want to get her mother too upset or things would not be too pretty. They finally arrived home and once her mother unlocked the door Sheva ran into the house, up the stairs, and went straight to her room. She slammed her door shut and let the tears that she was holding in the whole car ride fall down her face.
Meanwhile downstairs...
Nadia sat down on the couch let out a sigh. She knew that Sheva was crying right now. Sheva was always a sensitive one and Nadia never liked yelling at her, but sometimes she couldn't help it.
Clyde came walking out of the kitchen and sat down next to her upset wife.
"Do you want to talk about it?" He asked putting an arm around her and pulling her close.
"Sheva's upset because she got invited to a sleepover tomorrow and I won't let her go, and the only reason I'm not letting her go is because the girl has a brother who is also going to have some of his friends over. Which means a lot of boys and I'm just don't feel comfortable with letting her go..." Nadia told him truthfully.
"Did you let her talk or did you just cut her off?" Clyde questioned. He knew Nadia had a habit of not letting people finish what they are saying.
"No..." She sighed. He had a point though. She just didn't want to admit it.
"Well maybe you should let her talk to you about it." He suggested.
"Or... I could just let her cry it out." She offered, but she knew she would have wanted some alone time but she also knew she needed to talk to her.
"Nadia..." Clyde said seriously.
"Fine, I'll talk to her. Thanks honey." She said as she kissed his cheek.
"No problem," He said as he grabbed the remote. "But now I'm going to watch some sports..." He finished grabbing the remote.
Nadia rolled her eyes and walked upstairs to Sheva's room. She knocked on the door, no response. The second time she knocked the door opened revealing a red faced, puffy eyed Sheva.
"Yes?" Sheva asked through sniffles.
"Can we talk?" Nadia asked softly. Sheva shrugged her shoulders, looked down and whispered "I don't know..."
"Well were going to talk." Nadia said as she walked in her room closing the door behind her.
Sheva walked over the fluffy pink chair in the corner of the room and sat down in it. Nadia stayed over at the door and softly asked her:
"Why are you crying?"
Sheva shrugged her shoulders once again. She thought that was the stupidest question to ask right now. It was obvious why she was crying.
"Sheva, you need to talk to me." Nadia told her crossing her arms across her chest.
"I'm crying because you yelled at me because I wanted to have some fun with my friends. I don't get you and dad. Whenever I'm lonely or just want to be alone you make me do something, but when I want to do something, you tell me no and yell at me and hurt my feelings. I just don't get it." Sheva told her through sniffles and small hiccups with more tears coming down her face.
"Well I feel like you don't understand that I'm trying to keep you safe. I know you feel like I'm trying to stop you from having fun but that's not the case. I don't want you to go to some girls house that I don't know, while her brother that I don't know and his friends that I don't know are over there. Do you see where I'm going with this?"
"Yeah, but I know them, and if anything happens to me it my fault not yours."
"No, it would be my fault for letting you go."
"Why don't you just trust me to make my own decisions? I 16 for goodness sakes!" She explained to her mom.
"Do you know what happened to me when I was 16? Do the math Sheva. If I'm 32 and your 16 then what happened?" Nadia asked her angrily. Sheva's glossy eyes widened in realization.
"You got pregnant with me when you were 16..." Sheva whispered out.
"I had no idea..." Sheva said wiping away her tears.
"I know. Now do you see why I'm strict when it comes to you and boys? I don't want you to do the same thing I did. Those kinds of things happen way to often these days." Nadia told her softly.
"I'm going to let you go to the sleepover, I trust you. Just remember this little talk Sheva, and make the right decisions."
"I will, I promise." Sheva told her mother.
"Oh and Sheva, crying is not going to get you everything you want in life." And with that she left.
Sheva was going to the Sleepover. She promised her dad and her mom she would make the right decisions. She was going to keep those promises.
