When Lana woke up the next morning, she felt two arms holding her close to a hard body, so she turned to her right and saw Barnaby, remembering that they'd fallen asleep together. She gently brushed some hair out of his eyes and chuckled softly, before carefully wiggling her way out of his grip, so as to not wake him. She decided to go to the library and research what Trelawney had said in divination, as it had been playing on her mind ever since.
Slipping on her uniform but keeping Barnaby's hoodie on, Lana kissed the boy on the forehead before sneaking out of the Slytherin common room to the library.
"Lana! Is it true that you discovered a petrified student?" Charlie asked her as he spotted her enter the room. Lana then realised that her and Charlie had scheduled a study session together.
"Technically Beatrice did, but she asked Snape to show me what happened right after." Lana answered, "Has word really gotten out that quickly?"
"It's all the school can talk about. The prevailing theory is that there's another curse." Charlie said.
"That's what Snape believes, too. Which means to save that student, we'll need to find and break the curse on the final vault. I'm sorry, Charlie. We were scheduled to study together, but that was before this curse thing happened." the girl groaned, "Do you mind if we cancel? All I can think about is whether Trelawney's prophecy might be related to all of this..."
"Trelawney gave you a prophecy?" Charlie questioned.
"Yeah, after reading the tea leaves in my cup in divination yesterday."
"But aren't Trelawney's prophecies notoriously incorrect? Do you think this one's real?"
"Unfortunately, I think it's real, as much as I wish it wasn't." Lana said sadly, "It fits too well with what I know about the vault and the new statue curse to just be a coincidence."
"I believe in trusting you gut, and if your gut is telling you this is real, it probably is." Charlie said, his voice full of sympathy as he saw how worried Lana looked.
"That's why I wanna look into it. The problem is that it's vague. It'll be hard to decipher."
"Then why don't I help you?" Charlie offered.
"Really?"
Charlie was about to speak, when his younger brother Percy came up to the pair with a stern look on his face.
"Not if I have any say in the matter."
"You followed me here, Percy?" Charlie asked in surprise.
"Yes, it ensures you're focusing on your studies. You've been oddly distracted since we got back to Hogwarts." Percy said.
"What's odd is how little mine and Bill's story about what Rakepick did in the vault has affected you." Charlie frowned, "Our brother was nearly killed at this school by a professor he trusted. How can you not be bothered by that?" the taller boy asked in disbelief.
"I understand what happened with Profess...with Rakepick was awful, but that's not excuse. Honestly, it's bad enough that I have to babysit the twins now they've started at Hogwarts." Percy said, rolling his eyes, "But I never thought I'd have to tell my prefect older brother to keep his mind on school. What would Bill say if he knew about this?"
"Bill would sympathise with what I was going through."
After a few more minutes of arguing, Percy was recruited by Charlie to help them decode Trelawney's prophecy. Percy suggested asking Madam Pince for a book, when a shorter ginger boy approached the three.
"I wouldn't go near her for a while if I were you." he said mischievously.
Just then, a completely identical boy came over and stood next to him.
"She's in a right foul mood."
"What did you two do?" Charlie frowned.
"Nothing! We just thought we'd introduce ourselves to Madam Pince is all..." the second boy said defensively.
"By 'reorganising' a few of the library shelves..." the first boy chuckled.
"I take it these are the two younger twin brothers you mentioned?" Lana grinned.
"On, that's right, I haven't introduced you yet. Lana, this is..."
"I'm Fred, the older twin." the second boy said, "First-year Gryffindor, of course." he grinned.
"And I'm George, the younger twin. Also a first-year Gryffindor." the other boy said.
"It's nice to meet you both." Lana smiled.
"I wish I stay and chat, but I have detention." George said.
"The year's barely begun and already you're getting in trouble?!" Percy asked in disgust.
"Like I said, George, it doesn't make sense for us to both suffer through Filch's punishment." Fred said, "I'll take the blame next time, promise."
"'Next time'?!" Percy asked again.
"I'm gonna hold you to that, Fred!" George laughed, before saying goodbye and walking out of the library.
"It's too bad George had to leave so soon." Lana said.
"Don't worry, I do most of the talking anyway. And Charlie and Bill have already told us plenty about you." Fred smiled, "Especially Charlie when all he did was tell everyone how pretty and amazing you are." he added cheekily, looking at his brother as he watched him blush.
"Shut up, Fred." Charlie grumbled.
"I've also heard about all your adventures in the cursed vaults. Though I was mostly interested in hearing about all the tricks you've pulled around Hogwarts! I'd be honoured to have such a master trickster as a friend!" Fred grinned.
"Of course, Fred. I could always use more friends." Lana said, smiling sweetly at the young boy, "I take it you and George like making mischief?"
"That's outing it mildly. Once, when they were seven, they almost tricked Ron into making an Unbreakable Vow." Percy stated.
"Got caught, too. No pocket money for a year." Fred chuckled.
"Not to mention the time you gave Ron an acid pop and burnt a hole in his tongue." Charlie added.
"A classic! Can you blame us for loving mischief? April 1st is our birthday, after all."
"I'm glad you've met, but now Charlie, Fred, and I need to study." Percy said.
"Yes, mum." Fred said sarcastically, making Lana giggle.
"I'm sorry we couldn't be of more help decoding Trelawney's prophecy, Lana." Charlie apologised.
"You'd have to be as gifted in divination as a centaur to make sense of that vague prediction." Percy said.
"That's it, Percy! I'll ask Torvus for help!" Lana grinned, remembering her old friend. She just hoped he'd be able to help...
