Lana had been feeling pretty tensed up since the previous night when Jacob left her once again. She felt alone, even though she still had all her friends, she just felt...empty.

"Lana, there you are! I can't wait for you to meet—wait, you look sad..." Penny said as Lana met her in the courtyard the next day.

"While I was searching for my brother, he apparated into Knockturn Alley."

"You saw your brother again?! I'm so glad!" Penny smiled, "Though I take it that it want the proper reunion you wanted."

"No, he only came to warn me and Merula about an assassin that might be after us." Lana said sadly.

"An assassin?! Who?! Why?!" Penny gasped.

"I had the same reaction, but Jacob left without telling me anything." the Gryffindor girl said, "I know he's trying to keep me safe, but I wish he'd stop keeping things from me and let me help. We could stop Rakepick and break the statue curse faster if we worked together." she added with a sigh.

"I'm so sorry, Lana."

"So, who's this person you want me to meet so badly?" Lana asked, changing the subject.

"Come see for yourself!" Penny squealed excitedly.

Penny dragged Lana over to a small crowd of students, and in and amongst them was a young Hufflepuff boy in a bright yellow sweater with perfectly styled hair.

"Lana, this is Cedric Diggory." Penny introduced.

"Nice to meet you, Lana. I've heard a lot about you." Cedric smiled.

"Cedric is the coolest." Penny commented, "But don't take my word for it. Why don't you get to know him and see for yourself?"

After speaking with Cedric for a short while, Lana warmed up to the boy, but didn't see what all the fuss was about.

"See, I told you he was cool! In fact, he's quite possibly the Huffliest Hufflepuff I've ever met!" the blonde grinned.

"Well, I—" Lana began.

"If you think he's cool now, you should see him on a broom." Andre interrupted, "I bet Cedric will make a great seeker one day."

"Andre and Penny are exaggerating, really." Cedric told Lana sheepishly.

"I imagine all that time flying mustn't leave you much opportunity to practise your spellcasting." Diego added.

"I could certainly stand to study more..." Cedric replied.

"Nonsense, Cedric's just being modest." Penny smiled, "I overheard Professor Flitwick mention how promising of a dueller Cedric was to Professor Sprout just this morning."

"Well, bully for Cedric." Diego tutted.

"Speaking of bullying, I heard you stopped a Gryffindor from teasing a Ravenclaw, Cedric!" Penny said again, "Keep that up and you'll be made prefect in your fifth year for sure!"

Lana stood there as everyone spoke about how great Cedric was in front on him and wondered if he actually liked all the attention, or was just smiling and nodding to keep them happy. She felt quite bored as she listened to all the compliments flying out of everyone's mouth about a first-year, and accidentally let out a yawn.

"That's nice of you to say, but I don't deserve all this fuss, especially with a literal Hogwarts hero standing right there." Cedric said, finally managing to squeeze a word in.

"Actually, it's nice not being the centre of attention for once." Lana chuckled, "I didn't get the chance to say this earlier, but welcome to Hogwarts, Cedric." she smiled kindly.
