They didn't talk to eachother. Though they had a great deal to say. Public wouldn't be the best place to do so. But despite this. They kept close quarters. Trying to play off the stoic, newly married pure blood couple trope. She had a lot of practice at this. Spying on Narcissa and Lucius the month past. They acted so coldly to eachother in public. But she knew the love and support they gave to eachother behind closed doors. She could only dream of that result. But this.. was quite a different situation.
She pitties them above all else, the Malfoy's. For they were loyal out of fear alone. She wished, on several occasions, expecially when Lucius was being punished, to tell them. To console in them. To comfort them. To be a help expecially to their son who... She looked across the sea of children.
Draco. Oh the poor dear. What a life he had ahead of him. He was so proud when he was presented to the Dark Lord. And the dark lord far to proud he could finally bring him into the fold. Draco and the children of several noble blood lines had not yet reached the age where they were... Branded. But. Start loyalty young. She couldn't imagine what it would be like for them when they were of age. It's a horrific experience.. Viola shuddered. Remembering her own. A concealment charm does wonders. But it would never take away the memory of that night. What she did... What she.. allowed herself to become.
She looked to her husband. He had not touched his food. She had not either in fairness. There were other things filling her stomach at this time. But, something in her worried. Perhaps the maternal Hufflepuff in her was stirring. Being back here made things in her head rather jumbled. She couldn't remember what she was half the time. Was she student? Perhaps In a way. For here she would learn how to re-enter society. Was she a teacher? Not qualified in the subject but.. To those like her, perhaps most of all. Was she the mad escapee from St. Mungo's? Always. Unfortunately that part of her would fight the hardest in this race to the finish. In this fight to survive. Was she a wife? Not yet. And she wasn't sure she wanted to be. But... She worried over him still.
"Do you, not eat?" She asked him. Not expecting to get a response. But he shook his head. Looked down at his plate in annoyance and then back to the hall. "Not in public." He said slow, and low. She understood. She didn't really like the idea of eating in such a public place either. "I can respect and understand this." She said. Feeling a little more at ease with him.
Viola sat back in her chair. Closing her eyes. Enjoying the many sounds of conversation. Of laughter. Of secrets being told on loud whispers. This was a new perspective of this place. Being so high above it all.
"I said, where do you come from child?" Viola snapped her eyes open. Looking to her left. Mcgonagall addressed her with a question. But the fear that washed over her body snatched it from her mind. "I...I'm sorry Ma'am. Could you say that once more?" She tried to smile as she addressed the elder witch.
Panic flowed through her. When did she come sit by her? How long had she been ignoring her? Will she recognize her? No it's been... It's been too long...
"I asked, where you came from? I don't remember adding on a second new staff member." Her voice was a bit annoyed but kind. Grandmotherly. To the point. No nonsense. But this didn't quell the fear inside Viola.
"I'm.. I'm.." find the right words you daft girl. Say something! Every english word suddenly took a back seat as she staired, dumbfounded at the elder witch. Mouth agape, trying her best to comply to the social rules of these situations.
"She's my wife. Minerva." She felt a and on hers. As Severus leaned in just enough to address Mcgonagall for her. "I appologise, she's not from here." The hand was removed and the wizard sat back in his chair. Indifferent to the situation.
Mcgonagall was about to say something, perhaps an apology. But most likely more questions. As the witch looked like she had been hit with the most unsatisfactory ending to a book that had no sequel. But Viola just looked forward. Dumbledore was finishing announcing the new defense against the dark arts teacher who. Was rather rude. And extraordinarily pink.
