I hear the door slam shut and I run out of my room.
Harley stands at the door, an IHOP leftovers box in his hand.
"You got IHOP without me?" I joke, smiling to break the tension.
"Peter, I'm so sorry-" Harley starts, but at that moment, Morgan runs up the stairs from where she and Pops were working on math.
"HARLEY YOU'RE HOME!" She shouts and wraps Harley in a hug.
"Hey, sis," Harley smiles and wraps his free arm around her.
"Where were you?" She demands, pulling away from the hug.
"I went to hang out with friends." Harley explains softly, avoiding my eyes.
"Are those pancakes?" Morgan asks. Harley grins and nods.
"I got these for you, little sis." Morgan cheers and grabs the box, running to the kitchen.
"We need to talk." I start.
"You breaking up with me?" Harley jokes.
"Harley."
"Sorry. Lead the way."
I turn around and walk back to our room, Harley following close behind.
I sit down on the floor, and Harley sits in front of me, pushing the door closed behind him.
"Harley I-"
"I shouldn't have-"
We both look at each other and start laughing.
I settle down first, and Harley follows, looking down at his lap nervously.
"I'll start. I'm sorry about Wade. You always said you were fine, and I knew you were lying, but I hoped you weren't, and it would be better than if you weren't."
"You saying it's my fault?" Harley asks, and I shake my head quickly.
"No! No not at all. I'm saying it's my fault. I should have been there, I shouldn't have been so quick to dismiss it. And I shouldn't have let Wade stay." I hang my head.
"My turn." Harley says. "I don't feel bad about keeping this from you. I know I shouldn't have, but you were dealing with a lot. You had the right to let Wade stay. He was half dead, and anyways, it's a little my fault." Harley takes a deep breath, and rubs his hands together. "But having Wade in the next room scared me. It scared me a lot, and I couldn't do it. That's why I texted Ned and MJ. They distracted me, and it was nice. I'm sorry I didn't text, and I'm sorry I went to Wade behind your back."
"Harley..." I trail off.
"No. I don't want your pity. I'm not a charity case, and I'm not broken."
"I never said that." I defend, before leaning over and wrapping my brother in a hug.
"I'm so so so sorry, Harley. I hope you know that."
Harley hugs me back.
"I know."
