Chapter Six

Michael's POV

Three Days

It's been three days since we saved Emma. Turns out she was in worse condition than we thought. On the ambulance ride to the hospital she went into to shock from blood loss and actually flat lined once she was to the hospital. They were able to bring her back but she was in a coma. I haven't left her side because I want to be here when she wakes up because I want her to see a semi familiar face and the news I have for her isn't that good and I still don't know how to tell her.
As I'm thinking of the ways to tell her I hear a groan.

Emma's POV

It's so weird I hear everything but it's dark I keep trying to open my eyes but it feels like there glued shut. I can hear the scrape of the chair every once and a while and I've heard doctors or nurses come in and tell someone what my condition is and sometimes I hear faint arguing from what I can hear it sounds like they are trying to get someone to leave my room and get some sleep. The voice's sounded awfully familiar but I can't place where I've heard them. There are some new voices too. I push these thoughts to the back of my head as I try to open my eyes again but this time....they open. Sadly I'm met with a blinding light that causes me to groan and close my eyes again. After I groan I hear someone shift in the chair beside me. I open my eyes again but this time I let them get used to the light as I ask the mystery person, "Where am I?" "You're in the hospital Emma." That's when I realize who the voice belongs to....Michael. "Michael?" "Yeah, it's me." "What are you doing here?" "Well, after we got you out of Andy's possession...." he must have seen the worry on my face because he stopped and changed what he was saying, "Don't worry Andy's in prison and will be for a long time. As far as the police are concerned he kidnapped you, beat you, and then held your friend at gunpoint when he tried to save you." Now my interest was really peaked. "My friend? Do you mean you?" "Yeah, I mean me." "Okay, we can discuss this part later now finish what you were saying before." "Okay. Well, I don't know how to tell you this but.... your family has disappeared." "What do you mean they disappeared?" I ask confused and a little worried. "Three months after you were kidnapped they just disappeared. No record showing were they went or what happened to them. They went off grid. We have been looking for them but there's nothing." As I'm taking in what he said I feel a tear slip out of my eye but I realize that he has to tell me something else because he had a worried look in his eyes. "There's more." I said. "Yeah there is. Since you have no family that they can find you are considered an orphan. Which means that unless someone adopts you before you're discharged from the hospital you'll be put into the foster care system."
