Loving You Hurts

 Kate is crying silently while staring at the picture that Natalie sent on her phone. 

Natalie and Yesha are currently inside a public park where they saw Jeric talking with an unknown girl. They phone called Kate right away about it, but she said that maybe, Jeric is just hanging out with a friend. But when Natalie sent her the picture of him hugging an unknown girl to her, Kate can't help but feel pain inside her heart. 

She wants to think that maybe, Jeric is just hugging a friend. But another part of her is telling her that maybe, he is hugging Candace, his ex-girlfriend. 

"Kate. Carlos is on the living room right now and waiting for you. Come out now, sweetie." 

She heard her mom called from the outside of her room. Kate wants to stand up and talk with Carlos but she can't move. She's emotionally weak right now, that even her body is not cooperating with her. She shut off her phone, then continued her silent cries. She heard a knock on her bedroom's door. 

"Kate? This is me, Carlos. Are you alright? Open the door, shortie." She heard him said in a teasing voice, but concern is still obvious in his tone.

She finally forced herself to stand up, then opened the door. The moment she opened the door, Carlos only took three seconds to look at her before holding her in his arms. She hugged him back, then burst into tears. The two bestfriends entered Kate's room where they both sat down on the bed.

"What happened, princess? Why are you crying?" Carlos asked, while gently caressing Kate's hair. 

"It hurts so much, Carlos. Why loving Jeric is hurting me so much?" Kate said, still crying in his arms.

 Carlos felt his heart aching hearing those words from her. He loves her so much that he is willing to hide all his pains just to make her satisfy always.

 "Are you feeling well now, my princess?" Carlos asked Kate with a smile. 

They are now inside a Ferris Wheel. Carlos wanted to make Kate forget about the pain in her heart so he took her to an amusement park. They rode different rides together but still, Kate looks sad. 

Carlos hold both of her hands, then looked straight in her eyes. "You know that I don't like to see you sad. Tell me what should I do just to make you happy, Kate." 

Kate felt touched in his words. She's happy that even though Carlos and her can only hang-out together during weekends, he always make sure that their weekends together will be perfect. 

"You don't have to do anything but stay by my side forever, Carlos. Promise me that no matter what happens, you won't ever leave me. I will always be your princess, okay?" She said, with tears flowing down her eyes. 

He smiled then wiped her tears with the back of his hand. "Of course, Kate. You will always be my princess. I will never leave your side because I will always stay with you, forever." He said smiling sweetly at her. 

Kate finally showed her sweet smile then hugged Carlos tightly. He smiled bitterly then kissed the crown of her head.

 He doesn't know if how long he can stay in this one-sided love situation, but he knows that he will never get tired loving his best friend.

 "Why don't you try dating, Carlos? Finding your own true love is better than foolishly waiting for someone who will never love you back." 

Carlos heard his little sister Emily said. He looked at her , then saw her hugging tightly the teddy bear Yael gave to her as a gift this morning. 

"Did Yael told you about my secret love for Kate?" Carlos asked with a frown.

 They siblings are currently inside Carlos' bedroom. He is sitting on his study table while Emily is sitting on his bed. 

"Nope. I'm your smart sister so I know that you have a secret love for Kate since a long time ago." Emily said. She sighed when she saw the sad look on Carlos' face. "It's your own choice if you will just look for another love or... you will finally confess your love for your best friend, my big brother."

 "I... I want to confess my feelings for Kate but... I think it's already too late. She's already in love with someone else, Emily." He said. 

"But you know to yourself that you can love her better than that transferee, right?" Emily asked once again. 

Carlos just smiled bitterly. He knows that he can really love Kate better than anyone else because he's willing to do everything for her. But his unconditional love for her will only be useless if his own best friend can never return his love.

 Kate was surprised when she saw Jeric sitting on the sofa in her house living room. Her mom called her upstairs, and told her that someone is looking for her. She never expected her visitor to be Jeric.

 Jeric stood up, then smiled sweetly to her. "Good morning, Kate. I bought you flowers. I hope you like it."

 Kate slowly reached the bouquet of flowers being handed to her. She doesn't like how her stupid heart will always go weak for him. "Thanks. Take a sit, my visitor." 

Jeric felt confuse in Kate's cold behavior towards him, but he still smiled, then sat back on the sofa. He felt disappointed when Kate sat down on the chair across him instead on the space next to him.

 "Tell me what's wrong, Kate. Did I do something wrong? Why are you ignoring me these past few days?" Jeric asked.

 "What am I to you, Jeric? Tell me. What do I really mean to you? Do I even matter to you?!" Kate asked with an obvious hurtful tone in her voice. She can no longer hide her frustration. 

Jeric frowned. "What are you talking about? Why are you thinking like that? You mean a lot to mean, Kate. You're special for me."

 "What kind of special? A special friend? Or a special option?" She asked with tears flowing down from her eyes. She can't stop thinking that maybe, she's just a rebound for him. 

"Are you thinking that I'm just using you as a rebound? That's not true." He said looking straight in her eyes. He stand up, then kneeled down in front of her. "I know I'm not really good in showing my affection but... I'm honestly in love with you, Kate."

 "Really? Then what about your ex? Are you still in love with her?" She asked, remembering the picture Natalie sent on her phone last time.

 "What? Candace and I ended our relationship a long time ago. We even met on a park last weekend just to finally give our relationship a proper closure." He said seriously. He hold both of her hands, then looked straight into her eyes. "Give me a chance to show you how much you really mean to me, Kate. I promise that from now on, I will love you better. Just... stay with me, forever." 

Kate felt sincerity in his words. And she knows to herself that her heart is dying to stay with him forever. She nodded her head making him smile. He stand up, then hugged her who's still sitting down. They looked on each others eyes then slowly, their faces leaned closer to capture each others lips. 

The front door is wide open, but they are too focused in each others lips that they didn't notice the newly came visitor standing on the doorway right now. The visitor no other than Carlos is too excited to visit Kate today. He even bought a bouquet of flowers because he wants to confess his love for her, another try. But the smile on his face fades when he saw Kate kissing someone else right in front of him. He dropped down the bouquet of flowers, then run away as fast as he can. 

He doesn't know where to go but still keep on running away while crying.
