fred and george had made it their job to find seats closer to you in each of your shared classes,
the jokes were made during lessons,
you three were reprimanded by each professor,
and you shared laughter together.
by lunch, you were already quite close with the twinsthe both of them sat across from you in the great hall,
harry and hermione raising an eyebrow.
"you three are friends now?"
hermione asked.
"that's correct, granger."
"suppose it was only a matter of time before you three befriended each other."
"hermione! are you calling me predictable?"
you smiled and watched her giggle with the shake her head.
"anyways, y/n, if you're not busy this saturday-"
"we've got a trip to hogsmeade to take."
you shook your head and sighed,
"can't."
"and why's that?"
"detention with snape."
"ah, stuck you with the ol' detention did he?"
fred asked.
"tell me about it. i really thought he was going to forgive me! i heard he's a really sympathetic man,"
you shrugged,
the sarcasm dripping with each new word.
the group fell into small laughs and began to eat lunch,
discussing the next quidditch game or the newest gossip."let's get going,"
fred suggested,
the pair standing up to leave.
they stood around for another second,
their eyes shooting to you.
"well? are you coming?"
"hm? oh! yeah!"
you smiled as you hurried to your feet,
walking alongside them to your next class.
it was a nice feeling to be included.
you reached the corner of the dungeon and stopped,
backing away slowly.
"actually, you know what guys? i might just skip today,"
you nodded and turned to walk away,
but fred was too quick.
he grabbed the back of your robes carefully and dragged you back to where they stood.
"and why's that?"
"isn't it obvious, freddie? she's scared of snape!"
"and rightfully so!"
you defended,
smoothing out your robes.
"don't worry y/n. i'm sure after your many many detentions with ol' severus, you'll be more than comfortable."
you sighed and soon walked in,
the dread overcoming your body as it did everyday.
"hey luna,"
you smiled and took your designated seat,
fred and george taking theirs at the same table.
"luna this is-"
"fred and george weasley,"
she spoke softly.
"right,"
you smiled at her and back at them,
"luna, isnt it?"
fred asked.
you took notice of his friendly tone,
much more loving and gentle than it was before.
he had a certain softness to him that you took a liking to.you quickly cleared your throat and began to work on your potion for the day.
you read the board, then the textbook, and picked up the crushed porcupine to mix in your cauldron.
"wait,"
fred whispered as he grabbed your wrist carefully,
preventing you from dropping it in.
"what?"
"you didn't add the syrup."
you looked back up at the board and nodded,
"huh...thank you."
he winked and continued working on his own potion.soon the class was over,
and by pure luck you hadn't been sent out.
you hurried to bottle your potion,
running out of the room before snape could utter a word to you."so what should we do now?"
george asked as he appeared by your right.
"great question. any ideas?"
fred asked,
walking by your left side.
you yawned softly and shrugged,
"i don't know. up to you guys."
"are you tired?"
"a bit. it's just been a long day,"
you answered,
your head starting to hurt from all the new information and excitement from today.
"go take a nap."
"what do you two plan to do?"
"i dunno. cause trouble somewhere,"
george laughed along with you and fred.
once you all reached the common room,
you sat on the sofa and laid your now throbbing head on fred's free shoulder.
"school is exhausting!"
you exclaimed,
closing your eyes for a split second.
"go get some rest and i'll come wake you before dinner."
you sat up and looked at him,
a smile plastered on his face.
"fine,"
you agreed and trailed up to your dorm.
you got comfortable in the bed,
quickly dozing off.fred and george sat around ron, ginny, harry, and hermione in the common room,
their jokes and laughs echoing.
"so hows y/n treating you lot?"
harry asked.
"she's funny-"
"definitely smart-"
"but terrible at potions."
everyone laughed.
"potions has never been her strong suit,"
ron nodded.
"but surprisingly enough, we've become real tight friends."
"tight friends? already?"
hermione asked with a raised eyebrow.
"why so skeptical, granger?"
"do you really think you three can become that close in such a short amount of time?"
"anything's possible,"
george shrugged.
"she's like a long lost weasley, you know?"
fred smiled.
"no,"
everyone but george answered synchronically.
"you're all thick, did you know? anyways...she's like our estranged triplet. y/n acts the same way we do, makes the same jokes, really understands us. we're all on the same wavelength."
everyone nodded in understanding.
"well it's good to see y/n make close friends."
"what do you mean?"
asked fred.
"well y/n's only real best friend here is luna."
"aren't you all her best friends? or is there not enough room in the golden trio?"
he asked again,
a bit annoyed with the group.
"it's not that at all! y/n just...makes it a habit to not get too close to anyone. so we don't push,"
hermione explained quickly.
"well she's got us now,"
the twins spoke in unison,
grinning at the kids before them.

soon dinner rolled around and fred trailed up to the girls dormitory,
finding the relaxed lump of blankets near the window.
he slowly made his way to where you laid and took notice of your peaceful look.
he titled his head,
examining the way your hair fell into your face and how the snores rolled smoothly out of your slightly opened mouth.
he quickly shook his head,
mentally shaming himself for watching you sleep.
weirdo.
he thought to himself before giving your body a light shake,
seeing your eyes flutter open.
"hey doll, dinners ready."
you nodded your head and stretched,
leaving fred to watch as your t-shirt rose just above your waistline.
he swallowed hard and once again,
shook his head of the thoughts and headed for the door.
"george and i'll wait for you,"
he smiled back at you.
you nodded at him again and pulled on the correct attire,
feeling the warmth spread in your gut.
you were finally being included.
being welcomed.
and it felt great.you trailed down to where they sat and skipped with them to dinner,
singing the song of hogwarts all too loudly.
you all took your unassigned assigned seats in the great hall,
eating the food prepared for you."so y/n, coming to our first quidditch match tomorrow?"
george asked,
a spoonful of mashed potatoes flinging across the dining hall.
"that's tomorrow?"
"well, of course!"
"well then, yes! i'll be there,"
you smiled and dug a spoon into fred's plate,
stealing a bite of his custard.
"you know there's some right there for you to have, right?"
"yeah i know. it just tastes better when it's yours,"
you smiled and wiped the spoon clean.
the boy mocked your tone playfully and reached over to grab a forkful of your food,
making you laugh loudly.
"you're a child,"
you admitted with a bright grin.
"perhaps. being an adult is...overrated. right, george?"
"right you are, freddie."
you took a sip of the liquid that laid in your goblet,
taking notice of dean's eyes burning into you.
you gave him a quick wave,
which he returned and turned back to his conversation quickly.
"who are you waving to?"
george asked,
looking around to see who it could be.
"so nosey!"
you giggled and waved your hand,
dismissing the conversation.all the gryffindors huddled in the common room,
sleepy and full of food.
"you look tired,"
you pointed out to george whose eyes were dark underneath.
"that's because i am. i bid you all a goodnight!"
he waved and trailed up to his dorm.
people began to disappear one by one,
and soon it was just you and fred working together on homework.
"what potion is 'squill bulb' used in?"
you asked,
scanning the textbook for the answer.
"felix felicis,"
fred answered without looking up from his parchment.
"ah. yes! thank you. you're a genius."
"no, you're just shit with potions. but i'll take the compliment,"
he winked up at you playfully.
you snickered and continued working,
feeling your eyes grow heavy.
"i think i'm gonna head up. are you alright down here by yourself?"
you asked.
he looked up slowly and nodded,
a small smile toying at the crooks of his lips.
"i'm a big boy, y/n. i think i'll be okay."
"shut up,"
you laughed for what felt like the hundredth time today.fred watched you walk up the stairs and disappear into your dorm.
he leaned back in his seat and ran a hand through his hair,
trying to continue his work as your scent lingered,
settling in his lungs.
