"we've come to kidnap you, of course!"
george laughed,
wrapping you in a hug.
"mum, did-did you know about this?"
"of course!"
your mother giggled,
"your father and i have talked it over and decided to let you go!"
"but-"
"you don't wanna argue with your mother, y/n, that's not very nice,"
fred winked,
making your heart leap.this had been the first time you'd seen him in weeks.
and he was just as precious as he had always been.
you let the shy smile play at your lips."go, y/n, i've got her,"
cindy smiled and patted your shoulder.
you pressed your lips together,
racking your mind with a decision to make.
but as soon the pleading eyes of the twins met with yours,
you decided.
"i mean...alright,"
"great!"
the boys cheered together,
racing to your room to pack for the remaining days of your holiday.
your heart was still beating outside your chest from seeing fred so soon.
you didn't realize how much you truly enjoyed being in his presence until now.
"y/n? what's this?"
george snickered,
holding a notebook that was sealed shut with a specific spell of yours.
"hey!"
you giggled and snatched it from his hands,
burying it in your trunk.
"so..how long have you two been planning this?"
"oh since we invited you the first time."
you looked over at fred who was wearing half a smile.
"right..."
"y/n, where is your bathroom? fred here didn't want to stop on the way,"
george shot fred a sharp look,
"outside on the left."it was now just fred and you alone in the room.
"so..."
you began,
ticking your tongue in hopes he would continue the conversation.
both of you knew what needed to be discussed.
"so,"
he repeated.
"about...you know.."
"yeah,"
he cleared his throat and rubbed the back of his neck,
hating that this conversation had to come so soon.
"look it-it was a stupid thing for me to do. kissing you like that after just telling you we're practically family? stupid. on my end, of course."
you straightened your posture at the words,
feeling a bit stung by each new one.
"so you-so you regret it, basically?"
"it was a great kiss. but...you're one of us, y/n. doesn't that seem a bit weird to you?"
"didn't seem weird to you when you were practically attached to my face,"
you spoke harshly.
"come on,"
he sighed.
your conversation was cut short as george came in,
immediately noticing the tension.
"what happened?"
he asked,
dragging out his syllables.
"your brothers a blithering idiot. but what's new?"
you smiled sarcastically,
shoving the rest of your clothes into the trunk.george looked at fred,
eyes wide and eyebrows raised.
fred shrugged his shoulders,
insinuating that he had no idea.
but he knew all deep down the words had come out all wrong,
and here you were believing the kiss was nothing more than that to him.
when really it had been everything he prayed for before he went to sleep,
everything he imagined when he dozed off in class,
nothing else in this lifetime could have filled him with such comfort and warmth as your lips did against his."ready?"
you asked,
standing up and taking deep breaths as a reminder to calm yourself.
so what, fred kissed you and didn't mean it?
it happens all the time in life.
you were no special case.
the kids fit the trunk into the car and was soon set off for the burrow,
you were growing rather sad than angry now.
you leaned your head against the window as the stars began to twinkle around you.
"stars are lovely tonight, yeah?"
fred asked as he looked at you through the front view mirror.
"yeah,"
you muttered,
not looking away from the outside view.
you hated being so upset at fred.
but you couldn't quite get rid of the feeling either.
the way he held you so close and so gently that night,
only for it to mean nothing to him.
it hurt.
you were embarrassed.
you had taken every little thing fred had done and digested it to convince yourself he liked you.
you had thought about that kiss continuously,
and it always seemed to fill you with those same surges of excitement you felt when the kiss first happened.
yet,
here you were,
in the car with him acting as if none of it had happened.you weren't quite sure what you had expected anyways,
but it sure wasn't this.
as your mind continued to pound with a new emotion at each new thought,
your eyelids grew heavy.
and soon you were leaning against the window,
floating through the many worlds your
subconscious created.fred turned his head to see you peacefully asleep,
pressing his lips together.
"so what'd you do?"
george asked in a hushed whisper,
keeping his eyes straight ahead.
"nothing? i-i didnt do anything,"
he lied straight through his teeth,
feeling the guilt bubble in the pit of his stomach.
"yeah...right."
***
"hey, wake up sunshine. we're here!"
your eyes peeled open at the magical house before your eyes,
making your lips instantly spread into a smile.
you grabbed your luggage,
although a very visibly upset fred tried to help you,
and trailed into the house behind george.
"it's not much but...it's home,"
george shrugged as he grabbed a roll off their dinner table.
"it's lovely! so lovely."
"mum will be glad to hear you say that. she's been up all night cleaning,"
fred spoke.
but you ignored it.
"oh! you must be y/n!"
the woman with the same red hair every weasley inherited smiled before you so happily,
her sweet maternal tone calming every worry within you.
"yes! you must be mrs weasley. oh, it's so nice to finally meet you,"
you greeted as she hugged you tightly.
you basked in this feeling of a mother's full love,
having missed it so much.
"please call me molly, dear. are you hungry?"
"starving."
"that's what i like to hear,"
you giggled along with her and followed her to the kitchen."think she might like mum more than she likes us,"
george laughed.
"yeah...definitely right about that,"
fred agreed with a sigh to his sentence,
feeling his frustration rise within him.
but he pushed it down as best he could.
you needed patience right now.
and he was going to give you that.
well,
he was certainly going to try."is that y/n, i hear?"
ron asked with a cheerful smile as he followed the laugh from the kitchen.
you hugged ron immediately upon seeing him,
your hands full of their mothers cooking.
"oh ronald! i'm a bit cross with you, if i'm honest. not inviting me sooner,"
you joked and avoided fred's eyes that were currently burning holes through you.
"better late than never?"
he smiled hopefully.
"you'll have to forgive me, y/n. figured you'd have better things to do than spent holiday with the weasleys."
"yeah right."the night continued on,
you were having loads of fun with the family,
aside from fred.
you couldn't quite stomach seeing him right now.
you knew one look into his eyes and your defenses would come crumbling down.
no,
what you needed was time to rid of all those feelings.
unnecessary feelings, at that.
you laid your tired head against ron's shoulder,
a stitch of jealously burning deep inside fred at the sight.
"if you're tired, go get some sleep."
ron suggested,
watching as your eyes fluttered to stay open.
you nodded and got to your feet,
wishing everyone a goodnight.
you got to fred and gave him a quick wave,
walking to where your temporary room would be.you sat on the edge of the bed and ran a hand through your hair,
feeling a million different emotions at once.
and none of them helped you decide how to move from here.
you hated ignoring fred.
but you also hated how he treated you.
pushed you away to the side like you were practically nothing."y/n? are you decent?"
fred asked through the other side of the door.
"yeah,"
you answered,
watching him slowly walk in.
"y/n can we talk?"
"we've already talked and discussed how you felt. there's nothing else."
"no...no it's not about that."
"then what is it about?"
you watched as he struggled with the next few words to say,
"well? go on! spit it out."
"y/n...your mum told me about your dad and flynn.."
