"You got a lot you need to work out, cariña."
"You're tellin' me."
"Want to drink your problems away?"
"What do you think I'm doing?"

"So? This guy, huh?" Luciana asked with a suggestive raise of her eyebrows as they sipped cocktails, once again finding themselves back at a bar

"So? This guy, huh?" Luciana asked with a suggestive raise of her eyebrows as they sipped cocktails, once again finding themselves back at a bar.

"How could you tell?" Elena replied glumly sarcastic as she stirred her pina colada with a straw.

There's only one thing that makes us drink this much," Luciana replied sounding wise beyond her years, or perhaps that was merely because Elena would always know her as her mother who bordered on elderly, "and that's love," she finished, looking at Elena as if she had just instilled a revelation within her. But Elena simply looked doubtful.

"People drink this much in a loving relationship?"

"I love my Edouardo and I'm here drinking with you," Luciana quipped, shrugging and taking a long sip of her drink.

"Touche," Elena chuckled, "Why aren't you with him? It's your honeymoon and you're out drinking with some random girl." Elena said, having to stop herself before she said 'daughter'.

"Edouardo wanted to go out to some desert where they filmed...something, I don't know!" Luciana waved her arms exasperatedly but had a smile on her face and a soft look in her eyes, "Besides, I feel like I already know you, we have so much in common!"

"Like what?" Elena arched her eyebrow. Surely she couldn't know...

"Our taste in alcohol!" Luciana laughed, "So...what happened with this guy?"

"I saw him again," Elena grumbled, "I told myself I wasn't going to see him. I wasn't going to let him interfere with my job, with my life, but..."

"They always pull you back," Luciana sighed and shook her head.

"Yeah," Elena sighed whimsically, "You know? The worst part was he remembered me."

"That's a bad thing?"

"Yeah!" Elena enthused as Luciana looked at her blankly, "It would be easier if he didn't. If he'd forgotten. If he'd moved on. Cause then maybe I could too. But if he still remembers and if I do too then..."

"Why are you even apart?" Luciana finished. Elena nodded.

"Exactly."
