"The first phase of Exams will begin now! It is a written exam! The rules are that there ten questions in all! You have one hour to answer them, and I will ask you the tenth one when there are 15 minutes left of the time! Each time you get caught, we will subtract a point from your score. If you are caught cheating more than five times, you will get disqualified! To pass, you need a total of more points from the whole team! But, if one teammate gets a zero, or if one of them is caught cheating, then the whole team is out! Begin!" Ibiki explained.

She activated her Sharingan but made sure to keep her head down, as she copied the answers from the person in front of her. She copied them down and sat there observing the others until Ibiki announced the tenth question. Nagini heard many teams getting called out already.
"All right! Now it is the time!" Ibiki shouted, "But before I tell you the question, you have a choice to make! If you stay here and answer the question, but get it wrong, you will not only fail but be dropped from the program. But, if you choose to quit right now, then you will not pass this time around. But you will get another chance in six months."
"That should be against the rules!" someone yelled out. Many people agreed.
"In here I am the rules, so you will do as I say!" snapped back Ibiki.
Nagini saw many teams drop out. She saw that Naruto was shaking, his face slick with sweat. After about 13 teams left, Ibiki looked around.
"Well? Are you going to leave or stay?" he asked to the remainder of people. Two more teams left. Nagini saw that Naruto was raising a trembling hand.
"I never give up and always persevere! So you people better not underestimate me!" he yelled slamming his hand on his desk. "As long as never give up, nothing can stand in my way! So I'll take the question!" Number One Hyperactive Knucklehead Ninja, Nagini thought.
Ibiki glanced around and saw that people were less shaky now like they got some confidence back. That kid, he gave the people left confidence, he is an interesting one that one, Ibiki chuckled.
"All right, now I have one thing to say to you guys who stayed... you passed," Ibiki smirked.
Everyone stopped moving. "How did we pass?" asked Sakura to break the silence.
"To become a chunin you need to be able to make hard choices, but giving up is not an option. Those to said that they didn't want to answer the question failed since they were too scared to make the right choice. Those of you who stayed, you showed guts and the fact that you believe in your self, both of which are important aspects of a chunin," Ibiki explained. At that, everyone cheered, and they got led to the second stage of the chunin exam by their other proctor.
