Description of drowning be warned.

Kaito walked to the kamishiro household, he was not looking forward to this. The leviathan Shark wanted to use was not a creature he was fond of. Then again if it was not for this creature he would have never met Shark or Yuma. He began to think back to that day.

It was a long time ago before the three of them were pretending to be human, it was stormy strong winds, rain, and lightning. Kaito was struggling to fly through the terrible weather, he was looking for a dry place to rest. The lightning was not a bother as that was his element, but the wind made it hard to fly. Eventually he found a cave to land in and rest. Leaning against the cave wall he began to try his best to dry his wings. Tired he sat down and closed his eyes, surely a small nap wouldn’t hurt? Turns out yes it would, he was woken abruptly by a loud growl and being thrown to the side. He landed in a body of water judging by the burning in his eyes it was salt water.

“Ocean water in a cave?” Kaito thought, still trying to figure out what was going on. Large claws suddenly pinned him under the water. He tried to get out of its grasp but it seemed futile. He tried to electrify the water however he was far too tired to manage more than a few sparks. His vision started to go black his lungs burning. He felt terrible pain in his eyes and ears yet he also felt cold. Eventually the world went black. Before he blacked out though he could’ve sworn he heard a voice.

When he opened his eyes the first thing the bird spirit saw were blue eyes staring down at him. “Hey bird brain, what made you think sleeping in a leviathan's lair was a good idea?” The male had his hands against kaitos chest, judging by how they were clasped he may have been trying to make him cough up the water.

“I,,,I didn’t know that was what this place was, I was trying to escape the storm.” Kaito explained, still taking in raspy breaths.

“Well, since I saved you...looks like you owe me one spirit. What is your name?" The male asked.

"That rule doesn't apply when a spirit saves another spirit." Kaito said a bit grumpy as he sat up.

"I'm no spirit, I am a God, god of the ocean I should add. My name is Ryouga, but you can call me shark."

"Kaito...my name is Kaito, and I guess I am in your debt." Kaito sighed unsure if death was actually the worse outcome from this.

"Come on then, I actually need help from someone who can fly. There has been a fox in the area. Normally it's not a problem. But they are quite bold going up to the ocean. I don't want to watch them drown."

"You want me to grab them from the sky?" Kaito asked trying to figure out just what the God in front of him wanted.

"That is correct. I think the fox is a spirit so don't startle them. We don't want a fire on our hands." Shark helped Kaito stand up.

Kaito was about to speak when fast footsteps could he heard, the rain had turned into almost a tropical storm at this point. There were loud cries. When a dark shape bolted into the cave and shivered.

"I take that's your fox friend?" Kaito asked.

"Yes, I guess they got caught in this storm. They must be freezing." Shark picked them up holding them close.

"If we can get some dry wood I can get a fire going to warm them up." Kaito said looking around, when he could he got a fire going. He watched Shark place them by the flames.

It took the fox awhile to lace them down by the flames.

It took the fox awhile to wake up, when he did he looked very confused. “Wh..where am I?” They asked a bit frightened by everything.

“Don’t worry, you’re safe.” Kaito reassured them. “Just rest what is your name?”

“I go by Yuma.” The spirit said slowly brightening up. He listened as the other two introduced themselves. And from that point the three became friends they may bicker every now and then, but they were always there for each other.

Returning from his thoughts he looked at his arm, special markings were there.

“Normally spirits only mark each other when they plan to marry, but we are such close friends I think this is appropriate.” He remembered Yuma had explained once.

Kaito sighed, he will save the spirit, after all they meant a lot to them. So did Shark, he honestly couldn’t imagine being without them. “We will save you...after all we bound ourselves for life.”

A/N so yeah in technically Kaito is in service to shark for saving him. And marking done by spirits or gods is basically marriage. But when those 3 did it it was solely platonically but now? They are not sure anymore.
