my love for you looks different now
what once was a vibrant, fiery red
burning rich with aggression and youth,
an afternoon delight filled with daydreams
and the blades of unrequited yearning
that poked my ribs with masochistic glee,
a chorus of hums that vibrated within
the hollow expanse of my bodypassionate, beautiful, reckless
a deep scarlet bitter kiss of my timid heart
that has slowly begun to evolve into
an angry broken clockwork of feelingspresently,
i am enveloped in undertones of cream,
languid and smooth like my acceptance,
a mellow textured hue of remembering
what it was like to empty myself into
a canvas of memories and ruins,
the nostalgia that used to haunt my hours
become muted colors of self-forgivenessserene, lovely, cautious
a blank white portrait of my new heart
that has slowly begun to create rooms in
the spaces where you once have beenmy love for you is softer now
i love you but i am no longer in love with you
