Chapter 3: Augustus Arrives - Year 3
Walking into your Divination class, you only realized that the other classmates already left. You found it strange that they were gone, it was only you, Draco, Professor Trelawney, and the mirror. You began to scratch your head as you wondered why you were brought back to class. Surely this wasn't detention, right? You couldn't remember what happened in the last hour as if your memory had been completely wiped out.
Upon your arrival, the mirror began to speak, to your surprise and Draco's. Your eyes widened significantly as you traced back your steps to look into the reflective glass, the blond student did the exact thing. Trelawney started to get fidgety like she wanted to stop you from exploring the mysterious noise from the mirror, but she stayed still.
"What did they do to you?" The boy seemed distraught as both of you came into vision.
You stood there in awe, it was quite fascinating to see how far magic technology had gone. You were obviously invested in the boy in the mirror, walking closer to examine him properly. He was blushing furiously, out of embarrassment or annoyance, you couldn't tell. He also had the most striking grey eyes which made something inside your brain click, but you didn't know what it was.
"What? Are you talking to us?" Draco glanced at the student with his usual judgemental gaze. "Who are you?"
Mirror boy fumbled with his words like he was dumbfounded by Draco's questions, "You don't remember who I am?"
"Malfoy is bad with introductions, he forgets after two seconds of meeting..." You went quiet and felt your face go warm with embarrassment. "That's right... Who are you, again?"
"You too?" There was a facepalm that led to him pulling his cheeks down out of frustration.
"I'm afraid we haven't met before..." You replied as you watched his odd behaviour. Surely, if you met someone for the first time, you wouldn't be upset if they didn't know who you are, right?
"My name is Augustus M... My house... Is Slytherin..." He seemed to be struggling with finding the right words. His hands moved around awkwardly and he let out a pained laugh to cover up the awkward silence.
You smiled at his answer, "Why, hello Augustus! My name is-"
"I already know your names..." The boy sighed.
Draco smirked and he tapped your shoulder with the back of his hand in disbelief, "Well if a random kid knows our names in the future, perhaps we'll be quite popular, huh? Maybe you won't be useless after all."
You couldn't help but roll your eyes heavily, "Don't call him a random kid, Malfoy. For all we know he could be your son," The room went silent and you raised your hands in defence. "I'm only joking! Ahahaha!"
There was a small shove on your arm from a very offended Draco, "For all we know he could be your son!" He scoffed and pointed at the mirror. "Take a look, he looks just like you!"
You laughed in annoyance, "No, he looks like you!"
"You must be joking!" Draco then began to mock you right in front of Augustus to which you responded with the same tone and voice.
Professor Trelawney had to stand at the back of the class to hide her uncontrollable urge to combust. The sight before her was so chaotic, she didn't know if she should intervene or stay out of this married couple's quarrels. She felt awkward with the information she knew; the future between you and Draco Malfoy was indeed something no one expected.
The woman was almost pulling out her own hair. If she heard "he looks like you!!" one more time, she was going to full on destroy the mirror. But, being the understanding person she is, she allowed Augustus to have his little family reunion with his young parents. He did love them dearly after all.
