Chapter 4: Lame Lies - Year 3

There was visible confusion on your faces as Augustus tried his best to explain why he was standing there in front of you two. Draco blocked the future student from you, which was totally unlike him. Honestly, you were expecting Malfoy to cower behind you instead. Nonetheless, the blond never put away his wand and his hand remained tightly around your wrist.

Stepping over the clutter of glass balls and papers, Augustus began to laugh nervously, scratching the back of his dirty-blond head in thought. His uncomfortable laughter suddenly became a groan of despair as he whispered to himself; "Well, you see... This thing happened... It may or may not have been my fault... Still, it was an accident... God, you guys are probably gonna kill me..."

"Augustus, you're not making any sense,"  You spoke from behind Draco's shoulder. "Just tell us why you're here... Moreover, how did you get here? I thought the mirror was only for communication, not transportation..."

"[Y/N], don't be stubborn," Draco sneered. "There's something suspicious going on around here. I think we got ourselves a stalker! Tell me, Augustus, are you here to alter our futures?"

Augustus made a face, it was like he was struggling to explain his actions and sudden appearance. Draco was slowly raising his wand at the boy and in turn, he raised his hands in defence, "Please trust me, I wouldn't even think about harming you two! I just... need to warn you..."

Suddenly, the locked door of the classroom was forced open. All three of you jumped and turned your attention in that direction. You feared that Professor Trelawney, or even worse Professor Snape, caught you in the act. Not only was Augustus an intruder, but he was from the future for goodness sake. Surely there must be some written rule that indicates that time travelling wizards should not interact with people in the past.

The wooden door creaked open slowly and you were met with the sight of a new person. You wanted to say that you were relieved, but you knew you were in trouble anyway. You were ready to say goodbye to a few house points.

"What happened here?!" Professor Lupin, the one in charge of the Defence Against the Dark Arts class, was standing by the door frame in shock. His lips were trembling under his moustache, "I heard a commotion down the hallway, only to find out that the divination classroom is a mess!"

Draco laughed tensely, "Trust me, we found it like this-"

"Ah, Draco Malfoy and..." Professor Lupin leaned to the side to look at you. "Miss [Y/N] [L/N]... I'm afraid this is the first time we have met, I've heard plenty of things about you two."

You grinned awkwardly all while slowly glancing back at Augustus, to which the boy tried to look as nonchalant as ever. Even though it was small, you noticed that Augustus was chuckling tensely as well. It was almost the same reaction as Draco's. It seems like being caught in this situation made them react the same way, you guessed.

"Uh," Professor Lupin finally noticed the third person in the room. "Who are you? I've never seen you around here."

"Oh, I'm..." The time-travelling student looked at Lupin then shifted his gaze a bit, "August...?" His answer sounded more like a question.

"August... what, just August?" Lupin edged on with his eyebrow rising. "Like the month?"

The boy nodded his head with his lips tucked into his mouth.

There was a brief moment of silence and Professor Lupin finally decided it was time to leave the scene, "I'm not the type to take away house points... However, I expect this room to be cleaned by you three!"

"Sure thing, sir..." You accepted the consequences, knowing damn well Draco would throw a childish tantrum if his house lost any points.

"Well, hurry up! If professor Trelawney comes back to this mess, God knows what she'll do." Lupin glanced around quickly before exiting.
