"Illumi, is this your sister you were telling me we'd meet at the exams?" He knows Illumi but not me? Exams? Oh no. No. FUCK. Please be a joke. Frozen in my spot, Illumi grabs my arm and pulls me away, more like drags me away.
"He seems to have lost his memory of everything after the first day of the hunter exams," When I hit him into the ground and his head slammed against the concrete, but- but my card should have healed him. "Let's head home, change and take him to a doctor so they can give us an actual analysis,"
He's forgotten everything about me? Everything?! My body is visibly shaking, inside and out. He doesn't know who I am. He has no idea of any of the things we went through. After everything we got through to be together, I come and lose it all in the blink of an eye. And it's all my fault. If I hadn't been so bloodthirsty and actually used my head, maybe just maybe this could have been avoided. My eyes wander to the clown playing with Mizuki.
"(Y/n) we need to go," Illumi shakes me out of my daze. Mustering the strength I could I portal us home into the living room, my body almost giving out the moment we exit. Luckily I catch myself and make my way upstairs to shower.
Okay (Y/n) just breathe. This can be reversed, right? LEORIO! He's studying to become a doctor!! Running out of the shower draped only in my towel, I grab my phone and dial his number.
"(Y/n)? What's up?" He sounds sleepy
"Did I wake you up?" I can barely get my words out.
"No no, I was just studying, what can I help you with?"
"Memory loss. Have you done any studying on that topic?" I ask hoping for a yes.
"I'm sorry, I must have the wrong room," Hisoka's voice comes from my bedroom door. His eyes scan my body up and down licking his lips. "Although, the view is quite nice up here," He chuckles lowly. That's right, he doesn't remember he moved into my room on his own and I just let him.
"Your room's on the floor below, first room from the elevator," I speak out trying not to cry. He's not my Hisoka, not right now.
"Got it, amnesia. A person who loses his memory can regain them, but it takes time. It can take anywhere between days to years. How much time was lost?"
"Around a year and a half I guess?" The line goes quiet
"He forgot you, didn't he?" I nearly choke trying to hold back the tears, "It was a year and a half ago we took the Hunter exams. If you meant the same to him as he does to you, regaining his memories could be easier than you think, but then again this is Hisoka we're talking about. He lives for fighting people, he may not believe you or want back the memories," As much as I don't want to admit it, he's right. Hisoka was only ever soft with me. There's no way he's going to belive me or worse case he probably wouldn't want back the memories.
"Thanks, Leorio, good luck in your exams," I end the call before he could say anything else. Tapping the phone against my palm, I realize I have a watcher "If you're checking up on me brother, I'm fine," I try to muster my voice to sound convincing, I fail.
"Lie to someone who doesn't know you, not me. You can never lie to me," He comes in and pulls me into his chest holding my tight. "Dad's here, so is the doctor. Get dressed and come downstairs," I just nod against his shirt. He leaves and I throw on a simple white sweatpants with a cropped black t-shirt and take the elevator downstairs to the living room.
Dad and Illumi are near the sofa with Dr. Lynn and Hisoka who seems to be enjoying having a pretty doctor examine him. I walk over the little bar tray and pour myself a full glass of scotch before walking to the fireplace and leaning against it. Staring at him, it's killing me that all I want to do is snuggle into his chest and stay while he hums some tune playing with my hair his other hand wrapped around me. But I can't.
