Preface

For wolves, their annual Mating Season is a time to make friends, show dominance, and even find a mate. For a few others— it is a time of great sorrow. When Valkyia was first passed the Alpha title, her pack was in no shape for a Mating Season due to a recent Broxa attack. After a few years, Valkyia eventually decided it was time for her pack to return. At first, when Valkyia made this decision, she was very hesitant, unsure how her pack would be welcomed back. But, after seeing the shattered hearts of her pack, knowing that deep down one of her own was missing out on feelings she felt long ago— she could not bear to put them through that. When the time came, she wrote to Axel Claw, the former Alpha of the Boreal Tribe, informing him that the Arctic Tribe would return to this year’s Mating Season. His reply was pleasant, assuring Valkyia that all would be fine. Once she informed her pack of their destination, the sounds of their cheerful cries filled her heart with pride. And though this pleased her pack, she questioned whether or not it pleased her. Despite her thoughts, for the next three months, her and her pack made arrangements to train, learn— prepare, for the most exciting and unforgettable tradition in wolf culture.
