Remus heard frantic footsteps as Janus rushed down the stairs in the light side of the mind palace after getting Virgil's text. Virgil squeezed him tighter when Remus got tense from the sudden crowd in the room.

Following Janus came Patton and Logan...they all came down wearing their pajamas. Why? To yell at him probably?
"Remus, my gosh—" Janus exclaimed as he fell down on his knees next to him. Remus refused to make eye contact at first, but gave up when Janus laid a hand on his cheek. Like he used to do when they were kids.

Remus raised his head to look at Janus who gasped at seeing Remus's black eye. Patton suddenly knelt down next to Remus, pushing Janus out of the way, and lifted his arms to his face, examining the gashes. Janus then handed him some medical gauze that Remus supposed they had grabbed and some anti-bacterial ointment.

As Patton wrapped up Remus's arms, Remus sat still in Virgil's embrace, confused as to why everyone was helping him...

Janus cleared his throat. "Remus...are you OK? Well, obviously you're hurt...but...are you OK?" he asked. Remus stared at him for a minute before shaking his head and stifling back more tears. Virgil hugged him tighter. Why? Why did he care?

Janus looked down before replying, "What can we do to help, Rem? You know we all care about you, right?" Remus looked up at Janus, shaking his head.
"N-No...don't lie to me. I'm a m-monster, and you all know it."
"A monster?!" Patton exclaimed, looking up suddenly from his protective wrapping. "You may have done some scary stuff in the past...but you are most definitely not a monster, kiddo."

He called him kiddo...that felt good.
Remus shook that off and replied shakily,
"Then...then why did you all leave me..." Silence. No one really knew how to answer that question.

The real reason...and Remus knew the real reason...was because he was a dark side. A dark, evil, monstrous side that nobody cared about anymore.
"Remus..." Janus started, hesitantly. "We didn't mean to—"
"Oh, don't even start." Remus said, breaking free from Virgil's embrace and trying to stand. Virgil tried to stop him so he wouldn't injure himself further, but Remus just shook it off and ignored him.

"Don't, 'we didn't mean to' me. Remember yesterday? When I came up here? You all screamed when I showed up...heck! Roman came at me with a sword!" Remus suddenly yelped as he made it finally to his feet. Janus tried to catch him and Remus backed away, catching himself against the wall.

It was only then that Roman made his way down the stairs, clearly annoyed.
"Will you all keep it down?" he shouted, sighing dramatically. "It's two in the morning. For crying out loud!"

Then he made eye contact with Remus, noticing his black eye and now wrapped up arms. Remus half-expected him to scream, jump in front of Patton and Janus (who were standing closest to him), and draw his sword again...but he couldn't have been more wrong.

"Remus!" Roman shouted. Here we go. "Remus, oh my gosh—are you OK?!" he shouted, running hastily to him. Remus rolled his eyes.
"Like you care. You gonna fence with me again, you jerk?!" Remus shouted, still a bit traumatized from earlier that day. Roman scoffed.
"Of course I care, Rem! I'm you brother for goodness sake! I was just trying to protec—"
"Save it." Remus interrupted, holding himself up again on the wall.

Taking a deep breath, Remus turned to Virgil.
"Thank you for caring." Then he turned to Patton. "Thank you for helping me." he said, looking down at his arms. "But I know this was only because I'm injured...and I know I've probably bothered you long enough. So, I'll go—"
"Remus!" Janus shouted. "We didn't realize that—"
"Goodbye, Janus." Remus stated one last time before he sunk into the floor.
