TW: unsympathetic!roman, anxiety attack, slight physical violence

"LOGAN, WHAT DID YOU DO?!?!" Virgil shouted. Logan threw his hands up and scoffed.
"HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW IT WOULD DO THAT?!?!" he screamed.
"Guys..." Patton interrupted, staring wide-eyed at Roman in fear. Seeing Patton like this always made everyone mad.
"Hm?!" Roman shrugged. "Who's next? It's only fair that I get a turn."
"Roman..." Logan started, attempting to calm him down. "We're just trying to help you—"
"Oh, really?!" he asked menacingly. "No, that makes perfect sense, Logic. Hurting me to help me, clearly your greatest idea yet. Bravo, really."

Oof. And just when they thought Roman couldn't get any more sarcastic.

Logan didn't stop trying. "Roman, please—"
"No. Logan, please. How dumb do you think I am?!?! You're treating me like I'm as stupid as Patton!"
That made Logan and Virgil start to shake with rage. Patton was already insecure and Roman knew that. But he didn't deserve it. He just tried to do what was best. Looking over at Patton, they saw him visibly get uncomfortable, but he didn't say anything. He never did. Virgil spoke up first.
"At least he tries to do what's right. Unlike one of us." he turned to Logan for recognition, but Logan was still fuming beside him. Roman laughed.
"You're one to talk." he stated simply. Virgil squinted, confused to say the least.
"What?" he asked. Roman was being ridiculous. He goes around saying things like that and it makes you wonder why they were scared of him. Logan tried to stop him, but Roman interrupted.
"Well, you used to be one of us, after all." He laughed mockingly. Logan grasped Virgil's shoulder.
"Just ignore him." he stated.

Virgil shook him away.
"That was a long time ago." Virgil countered, telling it to himself more than Roman. Roman shook his head.
"That doesn't change the fact that you were once with us. Against the 'light sides'." He used air quotes while saying this.
Patton shook his head.
"Cut it out, Roman." he stated calmly. He knew how much it hurt Virgil even if he didn't say anything. And he was right.

"I've changed." Virgil countered. "I'm not like that anymore." He was taking deep breaths now and Roman noticed.
Nothing he could say would hurt him. Nothing he said. Nothing.
Patton noticed Virgil's distress.
"Roman, cut it out." he stated more forcefully this time. Roman ignored him.

"Oh, Virgil. That's cute." he stated.
"Roman, stop." Patton tried. He continued.
"You think you can change..."
"Stop it!!" Patton cried. "You're going too far!!" Looking at Virgil, they could see how much he had to try to hide it. To hide how much it was affecting him. Roman chuckled.
"You're a side, Anxiety. One of the mere aspects of Thomas's personality. You can't change." Virgil choked back a sob, and Patton saw this.
"ROMAN!!!" he screamed.
"You're worthless." A sob this time that Virgil couldn't hide.
"STOP." Patton screamed.
"And you always will be." And Virgil fell to his knees. Patton gasped.
"I'M WARNING YOU!!!" he screamed. Roman rolled his eyes.
"Oh, shut up, Morali—"

And as though all of his fear had slipped away due to his parental protectiveness, Patton jumped forward and slapped Roman across the face with all the strength he could muster. The sound echoed throughout the mindscape and all four sides, including Patton, sat in shock at what he had just done. Patton stepped back into Logan, who placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.
"Ro...are you...are you back to normal?.." Logan asked hesitantly.

Roman looked up slightly dazed, but he shook it off and stared at Patton in disbelief...or anger...or maybe a mixture of both...

"I guess we're back to playing my favorite game." he stated, and Patton's face went white. It didn't work. Logan and Virgil stared at him in shock, not quite sure what to do. Roman rolled his eyes.
"Well don't just stand there! It's my turn." And he reached forward and grabbed Patton's arm, pulling him closer to him.
Logan shouted, "HEY!" Reaching for Patton's arm and failing to pull him back. Roman pulled him out of his reach and held Patton's arm back behind him forcefully. He smiled. Then he started...singing...
"You hurt me, I hurt you..." Patton closed his eyes tightly, scared of what was coming. Roman laughed.

"ROMAN, STOP!" Virgil screamed.
"LET GO OF HIM!" Logan said as he tried to reach around Roman to grab Patton. But Roman was too swift.
"What? What is it, Logan?" Roman asked innocently.
"Scared for him, are we?" he asked as he suddenly twisted Patton's wrist around painfully in the wrong direction, causing Patton to cry out in pain. Roman shook his head.
"Yeah, go ahead. Cry. That's all you can do." he stated as he released the mortified Patton to crawl back to Logan with tears streaming down his face.

Virgil stared up at him in rage.
"LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE!" he screamed, looking down at Patton who was still trying to contain his tears. He wasn't equipped to deal with things like that...
"Look what I've done? Look what you've done, Virgil." Virgil shook his head.
"Don't turn the blame towards me." he stated assertively, and Roman's stern and angry expression seemed to...falter a bit.

Logan gasped. "VIRGIL! KEEP GOING!" he stated, laying next to Patton who was a little calmer, but still clinging to Logan for dear life.

Virgil complied.
"This is your fault. You know it is. Look at him." He gestured to Patton. "This was your doing. Yours."
Roman stared at Patton, then Virgil, then back at Patton, his expression becoming more and more guilty with each time he looked to someone new.
"And you know it." Virgil finished. Roman stared at Virgil for a moment, trying to maintain his composure...but he couldn't. And Logan had known that.
"...you're right." Roman stated, the essence around him fading. "I...I'm hopeless. I can never do anything right." he finally stated before collapsing onto the floor.

Virgil and Logan immediately ran up to where he had fallen to find Roman, back in his normal clothes, unconscious. And looking back at the mortified but now relieved Patton, they could tell that this nightmare was over.
