Janus sat at the foot of his bed, shaking. After the heater had turned off in the middle of the night, Janus wearing only a t-shirt and sweatpants, he had gradually begun to notice the sudden chilly atmosphere that now occupied the mind palace.

He was always a little cold most of the time since he was part snake. He had many traits about him that were reptile-like, and one of them was that he was cold-blooded. Usually, bundling up in his mountain of blankets kept him from freezing during the night, but with the heater being off, the temperature was a lot colder and his blankets didn't protect him from the frigid cold like usual.

Janus had been sitting in his bundle of blankets hugging himself for around twenty minutes now, but he was still freezing. He was obviously gonna need a bit more help to warm up. So he dropped his blankets and left his room.

He had to hug himself as looked down the hallway between all of the sides' rooms. The most logical thing to do would be to go and ask one of the others to help him warm up, but...

No. That would be weird. Besides, they all
hated him anyway...

So he decided to go downstairs to the kitchen and grab a snack. Preferably something hot. What he was met with at the bottom of the stairs was Roman sitting on the couch in his blanket and watching Tangled. Janus tried to be quiet, but Roman noticed him right away. He turned around and waved.
"Hey, Janus! It's pretty cold tonight, huh?" Janus nodded, his teethe chattering and replied shakily,
"Y-Yeah...prett-ty chilly..." Roman squinted back at him in confusion.
"You ok?" he asked. Janus shrugged.
"Just a little c-cold..." he replied as he laughed uncomfortably.

Noticing his discomfort, Roman paused the movie and stood to go meet Janus in the kitchen. Janus was preparing a cup of hot chocolate, giving Roman no attention.
"Janus, what's wrong?" he asked.
"Nothing." he lied, and Roman shook his head.
"Yeah? So tell me, 'Deceit', why should I believe you're not lying? It's what you're best at after all." Janus rolled his eyes, grabbing his mug and turning to leave. But Roman wouldn't let him get away that easily.

"Janus, wait—" he started, reaching for Janus's arm and immediately pulling it back. Janus turned to face him, confused as to why he flinched back.
"Something wrong?" he asked. Roman stared at him wide-eyed.
"Janus, you're ice cold." he stated. Janus rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, nice going, Sherlock. We've already established it's cold in here." Roman scoffed.
"OK. One, I'm not Sherlock, Logan is. And two, you're freezing. It's no wonder you were shaking! How are you so—"
"Well what would you expect from a snake?" Janus finally asked, extremely frustrated at this point.

Roman squinted. "What?" he asked. Janus sighed, remembering who he was talking to.
"I'm coldblooded, Ro. It means—"
"Oooooohhhh..." Roman said as realization hit him. Janus turned to leave again, but only for a second because Roman snatched his hot chocolate and Janus's wrist, leading him over to the couch.
"What? Roman, what are you—"
"Calm down, you need to warm up." Roman stated. Then he set his hot chocolate down on the coffee table and sat down, patting the spot on the couch next to him.

Janus stared down at him. Sitting with Roman would definitely warm him up...but he felt so guilty stealing Roman's warmth.

Roman smiled and pat the seat next to him again.
"Come on, Pinocchio. I don't bite." Pinocchio...lies...Disney...nice one, Roman.
"Are...are you sure?" Janus asked nervously. Roman nodded, holding his arms out surprisingly to...to hug him...

Janus smiled and sat down, snuggling next to Roman while he draped to blanket over him. It was warmer for sure.

The next morning Janus woke up surrounded by Roman, Virgil, Patton, Logan, and surprisingly, Remus...Roman must have informed them all of the situation. And Janus was able to fall asleep warm that night.
