Ch 24: Funny Story

"Hey hey hey! How are you today, Akaashi?" Bokuto yelled from the other side of the call.

Wow he's loud.

"I'm good, how about you? You look like you haven't gotten any sleep lately"

"huh? What do you mean?"

"you have.. dark bags under your eyes" Akaashi said without any hesitation.

"oh! This? Hahaha! Funny story, I'm actually going on a diet from sleeping"

..
What.. What kind of idiocy is this.
I can't remember anything well but I'm sure no one 'goes on a sleeping diet'

"Uh.. And why do you have to do that?"

"Well I've been sleeping so much that I can't get any of my homeworks done! And I blame my soft mattress. It's like it's attracting me"

Has he always been like this? He sounds so clueless.

"But today is the first day I didn't sleep at all"

Yet, why does it seem so natural to me..

"uhh, Bokuto-San. I don't remember you well but I don't think skipping night sleep is healthy.."

"hm? You think so?"

"Yeah. I think you should stop your 'sleep diet' or whatever what you were doing"

"If you say so Akaashi!"

Huh? Why'd he agree  to it right away? Do I always do this to him before this all happened? Just how close were we that I had the right to stop him from what he wanted to do. And..

How close were we that he followed me without any hesitation..

" well, I gotta go! My mom's calling me. You know what happens if I don't go to her imme-

" oh right.. You don't.. Remember. Um well thanks for your time! Bye bye Akaashi" Bokuto puts the phone down and rushed downstairs.

He looked a bit sad before putting the phone down.. I feel a little guilty for not knowing what he was trying to say. I don't remember his mom at all or anything about him..
But the weird thing is..

Everytime I see him, my heart beats a little faster and it feels like my mind refreshes a little bit. It's like he always comes whenever I needed him the most.

"are you done talking to Bokuto?" Mrs. Akatani asked after entering Akaashi's hospital room and sitting down beside him.

"yes. He had to go to his mom"

"ah I see. Well I have good news Akaashi!"

"hm?"

"We can go home! We can finally get you out of that hospital bed and go to your own bed!"

..

Those words..

I don't have the slightest idea what my life is outside this hospital.

Will I be okay?..

"hey um, forgive me. You must've never really noticed but your friends and teammates wanted to come visit you here but I kind of prohibited it.. I had my own reasons plus meeting with other people in your health situation might not be the best idea.. But don't worry though, I called them and they will come to our house tomorrow okay?" Mrs. Akatani said while packing Akaashi's things to get ready for their leave.

" oh that's fine.. "

I don't really remember who they are.
