"Let's go to the mall," I suggested to Nate. We had been dating for three weeks now.
"Sure. Got a license? 'Cause I don't."
"Nope. But I know how to drive. My dad taught me."
"I'm guessing we are walking then," Nate said.
"Nope. I gotta car. I can drive. I'll follow all the rules of the road. Don't worry." I winked.
-
Ten minutes later, I was illegally driving us to the mall. I hadn't broken any rules or driven over the speed limit. Both of us hopped out of the car when we arrived and began our walk to the front entrance of the mall. I felt Nate's hand brush mine. I opened my fingers and he intertwined his with mine. We walked through the mall like this.
-
An hour later, the two of us walked out of the mall. I was holding about four or five bags from various stores.Halfway to the car, I spot Danny. He looked up at me. Something sparked in his eyes when he saw Nate and I holding hands. I looked away.
"Hey Slut!" Danny called. I ignored him and kept walking. Nate turned around. Danny was heading towards us. I flipped him off behind my back.
"I said 'Hey Slut' to you," Danny said. He was standing right next to us now.
"And I thought my 'Fuck You' was pretty obvious," I countered.
"Excuse me, but I don't appreciate you talking to my girlfriend like that," Nate said. He protectively put his arm in front of me.
"You think I'm scared of a shrimp like you?" Danny said.
"If anybody here is the shrimp, it's obviously you," Nate stated.
"Fucking shithead." Danny was obviously irritated.
"Two-inch." Nate was smirking at his own comeback.
"That's it!" Danny screamed.
Danny rushed forward at Nate. Nate jumped out of the way, sending Danny nearly crashing into a tree. Danny turned around and swung at Nate. Nate blocked the punch.
Nate swung his foot out towards Danny's man spot. It made contact and Danny sank to the ground, groaning.
"Well he ain't having kids," I mumbled.
"Next time, remember not to mess with me," Nate said to Danny. "Let's go." Nate grabbed my hand and pulled me along with him.
