“People like their meats cooked differently. I like mine well done.”

“What does that mean?”

“No blood, I want my meat brown in the middle.”

Malachi watched the red meat sizzle, “are you sure this is good?”

“Yes.” Daniel threw chopped onions into the pan, “the rice is almost done.”

Malachi tilted his head, “why did you add onions?”

“For flavor.”

“Like the ‘seasonings’?”

“Exactly.” Daniel smiled, staring at the meat then at the omega. “We do not have to stand here.”

“What if it burns?”

“You have a nose, you will smell it.” He walked over to the table that was covered in books and documents, “that will take a while. We can read this until then.” Daniel pulled out a chair for Malachi and then himself, “okay.” He picked things up and put them down, “I cannot read this.”

Malachi sat, naked, in the chair, “these are patient files –they look like wolves that were in the military and were hurt or killed.” He set those aside, “I wish to know what ‘war’ they speak of.” The wolf grabbed the large book, pointing at the lettering, “Origins.”

“I cannot read that.”

“I am teaching you, listen.” Daniel swallowed, nodding. “That is an OR, then it is I-”

“Oh wait, I have a journal around here!” Daniel ran to his bed, tripping on the nest, looking for his journal under the bed. “Here –now, I need a pen.”

“The meat is burning.”

“What –flip it!”

Malachi stood slowly, going to the pan, looking inside, “the onions as well.”

“Stop telling me what is happening! Fix it!”

The omega flipped it with a fork, “almost.” He moved the onions around, taking some and putting it in the rice pot, stirring it. “Are you ready?”

“Yes, yes.” Daniel sat down, using a small knife to sharpen his pencil, “I am.”

“The first two lettering are OR. Then I is alone –you have GI –N is alone, as well as S.”

Daniel wrote quickly, copying the word, “I have it.”

“Good.” Malachi went back to his chair, “I want to wear your shirt.”

Daniel looked up slowly, “wha –you have clothes. I bought you clothes.”

“Daniel, I said I want to wear your shirt.”

“But-” He squinted at Malachi, confused, but removed his shirt. “Then I will be cold.”

Malachi took a big whiff of it before putting it on. “You have more clothing if you wish to wear clothes.” He licked his lips, staring at Daniel. “You are beautiful, you would have been a perfect alpha.”
