Chapter 2

"SHEN WEI!!!!!!!!"

"X-Xing Li....hahahh....you are here..."

"You seem to be at ease...looks like you have finished the book?"

"Why did you come to that conclusion?"

"The fact that you are playing around right now means you have finished, correct?"

"I was just taking a break"

Xing Li holds his arms and leans in "Well then, why don't we get back to work?"

She drags Wei into his room and Yunlan decides to go back to Riju's room.

"No...you cannot go back in....Let me go Xing Li....My cute son is going to be taken by a beast"

After a while, wei slumps on his desk and groans "It's finally done Xing Li"

"Very good! Here's the reward I told you about"

Xing Li rummages her bag and takes out a stack of papers and shows it to Wei. "It's the hand written note of Lan lǎo shī's new mystery book."

Wei absentmindedly takes the notes with shaky hands. "Do you know how much trouble I went through to get this for you?"

Wei looks at Xing Li and jumps on her hugging her and expressing his thanks. "Thank you Xing Li, I will take good care of it"

Just then the door to his room opens and he looks at Riju and Yunlan looking at them in shock. That was when Wei notices the scene, where he is on top of Xing Li and she is beneath him, her hair disheveled. When Wei jumped on her, she lost the balance and they both fell flat on the ground. Wei was so happy to get his Lan lǎo shī's hand written notes, that he did not realize the situation.

They scurried away from each other and Xing Li corrected her hair in process. She excused herself nervously and gathered her things before escaping out of the house. When Wei looked at the other two, Riju was in a verge of tears and Yunlan had a cold look on his face. Wei slowly tries to approach his son, he tries to brush of the tears.

"R-Riju......"

But Riju swats his hand away and shouts "I DON'T WANT A MOTHER" and runs back to his room.

When Wei tries to follow him, he feels a strong grip on his arm and looks at Yunlan in confusion.

"What's wrong with you?"

"What were you doing to her?"

"What? Do you also think I was doin something to her?"

"It looked it you guys were........."

"Let me go Yunlan, I need to get back to my son"

"Think before you do something Wei yéye. There is a kid at home. Don't make Riju cry for your foolishness"

Wei was angered by Yunlan's words. He shrugs off his grip "You stay out of my family matter and stay away from my son. A kid is giving me advices, you are an outsider stay outside and don't ever think of coming near my son"

Wei glares at Yunlan and walks away up the stair towards his son's room. But stops midway and looks behind. "Also, get out of my house and never come back"

Wei knocks on Riju's bedroom door and calmly calls him out.

"Son....open the door please..."

"NO....I don't want to talk to you papa"

"Please listen to me son, it's a misunderstanding...."

"No....you will say you love her and want to marry her. I don't want her to be my mom. I don't want anyone to come in your life and share your love"

"Riju....I am not marrying her and I don't love her. Please open the door for me. Let me talk to you"

He waits for a while and slowly the door opens and he finds his son standing with a swollen eyes and runny nose. He gathers Riju in his arms and walks inside before they nestle in his bed.

"Listen to me Riju....What you saw was a misunderstanding. She got me something I wanted and I was happy so I hugged her. But we fell down and that was when you walked in. There is nothing going on between us and I am not marrying her. I don't want anyone than Riju in my life"

"You promise Papa?"

"I promise son, I will never marry any woman. Because my love is only for my lovely son"

"Thank you Papa" Riju hugs Wei and buries his face in his chest. Wei pats his back and smiles. But a nagging feeling keeps rising in his chest and it makes him confused. Then suddenly he remembers what he told Yunlan and the pained face he made as he walked out of the house. Wei signs and shakes his head before looking at his son and smiling happily.

Few days pass by and Yunlan did not return with Riju after school. Whenever I asked Riju about this he would say Yunlan is busy and would go to his house straightaway. I should have been happy that he doesn't come anymore. But it feels weird, I have been harassing him for 2 years now. But he would still come back to my house. It still confused me sometimes why Riju is friends with a 18 years old when Riju is just 12. When asked about this, Riju would say they met in a park and became friends. Since they both go to same school, I agreed for them to be friends.

I had gone out for some work and came back late in the evening to find Yunlan walking out of my house.

I was surprised and confronted him immediately "HEY.....how come you came out of my house?"

"By walking...."

"Don't act smart with me....I told you not to come to my house"

"I came back to return Riju's notes which he left in the cafeteria"

"But still, why did you walk inside"

"Because no one opened the door when I knocked"

"How did you get in anyways"

"Opened the lock?"

"Key?"

"Under the rose plant pot. It's a common place people hide the spare key. It's so easy to rob your house"

"Don't jinx it...idiot...."

"Where are you coming from? What is that?"

He points to the papers in my hand and I hide it from him.

"What? Love Letters from your girlfriend?"

"Shut up....these are not love letters. This belongs to someone important to me"

"Girlfriend?"

"I don't have a girlfriend, Idiot. And it's none of your business"

"Right, it's none of my business" Yunlan wàlks closer towards Wei step by step "No one has the right to interfere with two people in love, they are free to do as they please"

"Are you saying that no matter what happens between you and Riju I have no say in it?"

"If I am, what would you do about it?"

"I will not allow it. You wouldn't understand what it feels like to be betrayed by your own bestfriend.".

"You've had this experience?"

"Yeah....Yeah, I have. So I don't want Riju to ever experience it. Especially not because of you, Riju really likes you"

"Well then, you have nothing to worry about. I am in love with someone else....."
