Chapter 3

"Well then, you have nothing to worry about. I am in love with someone else....."

"Hahah....a cheeky brat like you can also fall in love? So who is she? Tell me...?"

"Does it bother you that I am in love?"

"W-Well......."

"Are you trying to tease me? Or are you genuinely curious about me?" Wei looks away at this question.

"If you show me what you are hiding and who is this important person you speak about....I will tell you who I am in love with..."

"Fine....this belongs to a woman who I have utmost respect for. Its Lan Lâó śhî's hand written story drafts."

"Oh...that's all"

"That's all? That's all? Lan Lâó śhî is my inspiration. Don't compare her to something like 'That's all'"

"Wei ýe ýe, do you really like that author that much?"

"Like? That's not it....I love her."

A surprised look crosses Yunlan's face "Oh, is it? If that author comes up to you and asks to go out with her...what will you do?"

A blush crosses Wei's face "Well....I never thought of that. But I really want to know more about her" a smile comes up on his face as he looks at the sky and reminisces his thoughts.

Yunlan sighs and nods before turning and walking away. Wei notices and calls out to him "Where are you going?"

"Home....why? Do you want me to stay with you?"

"When did I ever say that? Go along...."

Even though Wei was thinking of his Lan Lâó śhî, looking at Yunlan's back walking away feom him was not a comfortable feeling at all.

That night I was preparing dinner for us when I started to think about Yunlan and that was when I realized "Yunlan did not tell me who he is in love with. Geezz....this bothers me so much....................Okay, why the hell am I bothered about who Yunlan is in love with?"

"Papa, is something wrong with Yunlan?"

I turn around to find my cute son standing at the entryway to the kitchen "Ahh...No nothing is wrong.....What do you need Riju?"

"I am hungry....Is dinner prepared yet?"

"Ahhh...dinner....Just give me 5 minutes I will serve it shortly"

"Okay, I will be watching TV"

"Okay, I will call when it's ready"

I sigh and start concentrating on preparing dinner for my lovely son.

Few days pass by, one day when I was at home I receive a call from Riju's school saying he was needed to see the principal right away, as his son was in a fight. Wei panics when he thinks of reason why he is called at the principal office and why Riju was in a fight.

Wei hurries to the school as soon as possible and knocks on principals office. As he was cued to come in, he finds Riju sitting in a chair at far corner crying silently. As soon as Riju sees me he runs in my arms "PAPA......"

I hug my son and look at the principal questioningly. When my eyes divert to the entire room, I also find Yunlan leaning on a wall with wounds covered on his face. A look of shock crosses my face. I also see Riju's friends who came to our house, they were sitting in a chair and scoffing at us.

I was really confused now and asked for an explanation with the principal. He asked me to wait for other's parents as well. I nod and wait near Yunlan along with Riju. I nudge Yunlan "What happened to you? Why are you covered with wounds? Who beat you up?"

Yunlan looks at Wei and points towards Riju's friends. Before I could question more, the door to the office opens and 3 ladies walk in "must be the boy's mother's". And then a man in a well clothed suit walks in with a gruff look on his face. I was stoned after seeing him. When our eyes meet I see him looking at me surprised. Even I was surprised to see him again after all these years. He walks towards us and I try to look away. He stands beside Yunlan and that is when I understand that he is Yunlan's dad.

That is when I hear the principals voice "Okay, since everyone is here I will start why you all are called here. First of all, these 3 kids here were fighting with that boy over there" he said pointing at Riju's friends and Yunlan.

"Also, this kid here was sitting alone and crying when they were fighting"

I was weirded out "What? If my son was not involved in the fight, why was he called to the office?"

"Mr Shen, Riju was the reason for this fight. I don't know what occurred between them but this needs to be solved now so that this does not happen again. So Riju, please explain what happened?"

Riju looks up at me and I kneel down in front of him rubbing his shoulder to relax him. "Riju, what happened son?"

"Papa....my friends are bad...."

"Why do you say that? Did you not bring then to our house to play the other day?"

"Yes, but I got to know they had bad intentions"

"What do you mean, Riju?"

"Today, In the cafeteria I was walking by when I heard them talk. They were talking about how they will come to house today"

"And?"

"They were plotting on how to get you alone and do something bad to you"

My eyes widen at this information and a shiver runs up my body and I look at Yunlan  and his dad who kept staring at me.

"Riju, you should not have involved in it. Do you think I am weak to defend myself?"

"I just confronted them and told them they are bad and they shouldn't think like that about my Papa. But they grabbed me and said they will do the same to me if I tell you about this. That was when Yunlan saw us and came to help me. He fought them when I told what they thought about you"

I was very angered when they said they will do something to my son. I get up and walk towards the 3 friends who are hiding behind their mothers. I glare at them "Mr...please stay back...don't hurt my son" said one of the mother.

"You all should teach your sons how to respect their elders and how to respect their friends too. If they had even so touched my Riju I would have hell bound to send them behind bars. Take this as a warning, control your son's or else they will have a bad future"

I turn towards Yunlan who was averting my gaze. I briefly look at his dad and then back at him. "Look at me" I say sternly.

Yunlan looks at me and casts down his eyes "Never get into fights for this...ever again...treat your wounds...Don't worry about Riju....I will take care of him"

Then I look back at principal "I am sorry for the ruckus. I will make sure my son is not involved further in any fights"

He nods and we are dismissed. As I walk out with my son, I hear him call my name.

"Shen Wei, wait!"

I do not wait but walk faster and away from him. He grabs my arm and stops me, I swat his hand away from his grip.

"I have nothing to talk to you dà gē, leave me alone"

"Shen Wei, I am sorry!"

But I still walk away from everyone and take Riju back home.

"Dad? Do you know Wei ýe ýe?" Yunlan questions.

"Yes!"

"Are you guys fighting?"

"Hmm...I did something very bad to him in high school and he still did not forgive me for it"

A look of confusion passes Yunlan's face and he thinks the reason for this strange behavior.
