In the year 1989 43 women gave birth But what was strange about this is that the women were never pregnant before that day.

That was 29 years ago.

I was one of those children. My mum told me all those years I was special, that me and those 43 other children were a gift from God of sorts. She believed that until the moment she died.

Clenching my jaw as a memory of that night came flooding back. Turning my head to crack it the bus went over a ditch before coming to a stop.

That night...

Fourteen years ago. A group of people came barging into the house with guns. Mum came running upstairs to my room as shots were fired.

"Mum what's going on...." She started shoving things into a bag while I shut the door.

"No time to explain... You need to... Take this." She grabbed my hand putting a watch around my wrist. "Your father worked with some interesting people. Some bad people, go back and hide. A hideaway for as long as you ca...." The door burst open, men wearing masks. "Press the turner," Mum shouted before loud bangs went off. Gasping I fell to the floor.

"Were there orders to kill the kid?" Gulping I gripped the carpet. Back then I had bad anxiety. Didn't talk much, kept to myself. This lead to although not often panic attacks. Staring at the life draining from my mum's eyes with blood pooling in her mouth.

"Doesn't matter she's seen too much." My head shot up. Remember to Breath in and out, just breath. Stop shaking. For god's sake stop shaking...

"Freeze." All four of them froze at the door. Unblinking. Standing back up with shaky legs I looked to the watch then to the bag on the bed still not zipped up.

"Alpha team do you copy." A com went off. Staring teary-eyed giving my mother one last look. Grabbing the bag and zipping it up I clicked the side of the watch. Everything around me faded. Gasping looking around it was now the morning and I was in some street.

After that day anxiety was the last thing on my mind. They've never stopped trying to find me and I learned that the hard way.

Stepping out of the bus a cold wind hit me. Should have picked a different time to travel to. Grasping the coast tightly my arms wove around each other. Looking at the watch it was still frozen.

From what I've collected over the years the watch needs to recharge after each use. So I'm stuck here until the hands reach 12... Another three hours. Sighing I started walking through the snowy walkway. If I can get through these three hours without starting anything then I'm good. Finding a small cafe for something to warm myself up I got a coffee while going through my journal.

After that night with my parents, it's never been the same. For one I've had to kill many people just to live and I'm yet to have a life. I tried dismantling the organization from the source but it's hard to do that when time travel is involved. A chirpy worker hopped in front of me smiling widely.

"Hi welcome to Amy's fine and late-night dine cafe are you wanting anything else today?" it's so late and yet this night owl is bursting with energy.

"Keep walking," I said, grinning for a moment before looking down to what I was doing.

"Bitch." She whispered walking off. It started off as an act, to keep people away from me. But now it's more second nature. I suppose watching my parents get murdered fucked my brain up, now I live a life that trusting the wrong people could get me killed. Just guessing though. Someone came from outside.

"My god it's picked up out there." Glancing up to the middle-aged man I noticed the hold he had on something in his pocket. But then his wallet came into view. I really need to stop being paranoid. Halfway done with my coffee I put my things away. The man walked past and behind me as I stood. They're coming.

"Everything alright ma'am... With your coffee?"

"Yeah. An errand to run." Not looking back I went out the back door. Why must it be so late? Best just hold out until I'm able to change the time I'm in rather than find a motel.

"Hey." The same man from the cafe grabbed my shoulder, I twisted his hand around to his back.

"You have exactly five seconds to explain yourself or I'll snap your neck."

"My name is Hazel and I'm trying to help you." Squinting my eyes I glanced behind me. Seeing no one I let out a long breath. My ability has grown over the years, it started out as just being able to freeze objects and people in place but now I can sence people. Floating is another thing but I'm not normally able to do that without getting shot at by bystanders. "Listen there's...."

"Six people. Four male and two females following me. So what's your role in this hazel?" Making a solidified air dagger and placing it against his neck he gulped raising his hands.

"You're one of them." He whispered. I pressed the dagger harder into his skin. "Like I said I'm here to help you."

"I've heard that one before and I don't need your help old man." Gunshots echoed throughout the quiet alleyway. Each shot froze about a meter away from me before slipping down the invisible field.

"Either you kill me and learn nothing or let me help." I groaned weighing my options.

"Not like you could land a hit on me old man." Breathing this out I stood up straight seeing the group getting closer.

"Never thought I'd be back in the game," Havel said standing up getting a gun from his pocket. Maybe I'm not too paranoid.

"One move out of the line and I'll drown you their blood." The dagger became longer more like a katana and could only be seen from the shine that the street light gave it.

"Stand down or we'll shoot." Letting out a short laugh I shook my head.

"You and I both know your task is to kill. It has been for the last fourteen fucking years." One-shot but it did the same as the other bullets. "You think you can last more than two seconds without my shield?" I questioned hazel who nodded.

"Trust me I can." Rolling my eyes I stepped further away from him so he could shoot.
