A Failed Fight

Aru ducked to avoid the winds and fire coming from the golden-hair-streaked-girl. Where did she get a weapon like that? she asked herself.

Aru then froze. This was no time to ask herself questions, this was a time to finally kick the pesky little gang in the knees. She silently noted that while the group was indeed powerful they didn't have backup- the very thing that her group had. In situations like these, Aru had been trained to figure out the best course of action to prevail.

We're going to win this. she told herself.

It turned out she was wrong.

Not less than ten minutes later, Aru found herself out of breath from fighting the curly-haired boy— something even the Ghataka's most powerful combatant wasn't able to do (other than her family of course). Her allies were whittled down to half, and the rest of them still able to fight looked like they'd ben through a hellstorm—which they had.

Gold-streaked-girl put up quite a fight, all while targeting Aru in a way she'd never seen before. Aru was starting to think the girl had a personal grudge against her, which was fair because after a few seconds of battling each other, Aru had already knocked out the girl's meager extra fighting force.

Boom!

Aru looked back to see two of the warriors in her force get knocked out. She hoped that her father's other two forces were doing alright.

This probably might not end well.

Sighing, Aru tried to target the glasses girl. Well, the key word being tried. The very good-looking boy stopped her. Aru had barely noticed the boy and part of the reason was that might be that he was barely doing anything. Sure, he had been battling her senior warriors but he hadn't been wrecking up a hell-storm like gold-hair, or trying to trap her in a force field, like glasses. He wasn't playing a key part. A key point to exploit, she thought.

But of course both of the girls had to make her life hard and kill the rest of her backup, save for her senior fighters. Well, Aru was screwed.

Kara  tried to shoot a girl younger than her. You may think she was cruel but the girl in question was currently destroying her force with a vine. A very pointy and thick vine. One that didn't look very inviting.

Off to the side, there was another girl, standing in a safe spot shouting-what Kara presumed were instructions. If I want to knock out the vine-girl, I should probably attack her twin, Kara thought.

But first, take out the shapeshifter. Kara turned around to view the girl, she was nothing special, She didn't look different, act different or anything like that. but her power was there. Growing up in a gang that dealed in hit lists and missions to steal, Kara had come across deadly people, but she had never encountered anything like this. Where did she even get a power like this? she thought before shaking her head and heading back into the battleground.

Kara was not winning. Sure, it looked easy in theory and Kara would have demolished the shapeshifter-girl (Aru could attest to that, she had been beaten a lot. It had become a thing).

But, one very, very small detail stood in her way. The girl had flipping shapeshifter powers. And Kara—who usually did things effortlessly, a fact known to infuriate Aru— was probably going to have to put some effort in. She didn't have anything against it, but she probably was going to be sore tomorrow

Meh, let's just get this over with, Kara thought.

That is, until the Sleeper— her flipping dad who had flipping told her she had to succeed or get thrown out— came crashing in and told her to forget what he said and go to Aru's aid with him!

WHAT???

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Sleeper narrowed his eyes. This fight was not going well. For the first time in centuries, the council had come out to fight. This could not mean anything fortuitous for his attack.
The Sleeper smiled sadistically as he watched Boo, his dear uncle try to fight with his puny arms. While he was doing well enough, it wasn't nearly a fraction of the power he used to display.
Pathetic, he thought.
"Hello old friend!" the Sleeper sneered, his blade clashing with his uncle's. "How's it going? Are you adjusting to your new body?" He rolled backwards as the monkey god, Hanuman tried to attack him. The monkey  failed.
Boo looked visibly shaken before gritting his teeth and attacking him. The Sleeper smiled. "Oh, it warms me to see that the traitor finally grew a backbone!"
Boo gritted his teeth but kept fighting.  "And it's nice to see your plan will fail in a minute or two!"
What? The Sleeper thought
"My plan will not fail, I have every thing planned out, nothing is out of place— everything is where it's supposed to be," the Sleeper paused, shock widening his features. "Except for-"
"That's right," Boo said.  "You'd better run, nephew, you don't want you precious daughter exploding in a flash."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Boo watched as the Sleeper ran, the bomb wasn't real. Just something to get him running to his so-called daughters. You're getting lazy, old friend, he thought.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Sleeper ran. He couldn't let his daughter  die. He couldn't let his weapon die. He couldn't let that happen. That was, after all, the only reason he had let both of his daughters live at all.
While running to Kara's infiltration area to get her to help keep Aru safe, he had come up with a plan. He just had to execute it perfectly.
