Gon stays and he waits at the intersection until second period had already ended. To say that he's worried would be sorely underestimating. He walks to school sluggishly, still hoping the white haired boy would come running.

But he doesn't.

When Gon passes through the front gates he sees a familiar limousine. He recognizes the plate as one of the Zoldyck's. Gon sighs, and smiles as he walks up to the entrance. He runs into Silva and Zeno Zoldyck just as he was about to open the front doors.

"Ah. Mr Zoldyck sirs." Gon bows his head politely. "Good morning. Were you guys dripping Killua off?"

Silva sighs. "No. I thought you of all people would have known what had happened."

Gon raises an eyebrow. "What do you mean, sir? What-" Assumptions rise up in Gon's head and his eyes widen in fear. "Wh-where's Killua?"

"He's in critical condition in the hospital." Zeno answers, walking past Gon. "Room 9-9, Yorkshire Hospital."

Gon can't breathe. That can't be right. Killua wouldn't. He promised. He... Tears threaten start pouring down the sides of Gon's face. No.... no.. no no no no no no no no NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!

He collapses onto the ground, holding his head in his hands as he sobs.

It's all my fault, isn't it? Gon grinds his teeth. If I had just... let him. If I had stayed out of his life he wouldn't be going through so much pain right now. He'd be free. He'd be happy. It's my fault he's in pain. It's all my fault.

- Elsewhere -

Kalluto holds Killua's hand, sitting on the hospital bed next to him with glossy eyes. Kalluto's eyes and nose are red and puffy from crying alone in the bathroom after what had happened.

He heard the doctors say that without the will to go on, without the fighting spirit, Killua won't make it through the night.

He's not even trying to keep living.

Kikyo walks back into the room, glancing at Killua. She clicks her tongue. "If he's so emotionally vulnerable I suppose we weren't strict enough with his upbringing."

Kalluto grits his teeth. For fucks sake. He feels the urge to slap her across the face. He feels the urge to disown himself from this twisted, screwed up, pathetic excuse for a family. But he doesn't do anything that he wants or desires. For Killua's sake.

"Dear mother, now is not the time." Illumi walks in behind her, putting a hand on her shoulder. "Right now we need to make sure the future of the Zoldyck bloodline is secure."

She doesn't even care. She just wants Killua alive because of his natural born talent for killing. She only sees his potential as an assassin. Not his potential as a person. Kalluto scowls, but hides it. His grip on Killua's hands tightens just a little.

Kikyo cups her own cheeks. "Ohhh look at Kalluto being such a good little brother~ you're so cute~"

Kalluto feels like puking, hearing that from her.

Kikyo's phone rings, and she steps out to answer it. Illumi walks over to Killua and traces his palm across the side of Killua's face.

Illumi sighs. "We'll make sure this never happens again. For the sake of the family."

Family? Kalluto scoffs. This is not a family. Not in the slightest.

Kikyo opens the door. "Illumi, Kalluto, we've got a meeting with a client. We must get going."
