After all of my wounds were tended to, I took a minute to look around. Everyone's faces were covered with dirt, some were crying, some were drenched in blood, and others laid dead on the ground.
So many familiar faces were gone forever. Even if I wasn't close to them I still felt sorrowful. A little bit away from me was a young ginger-haired who I believe was one of the Weasley's but I couldn't tell from over here. On the other side of the room were professor Lupin and a woman lying next to him with their hands limply held together. So many others were covered with blankets so I couldn't see who they were.
I have seen so much death and pain this past year but never something like this. The entire school has practically fallen to pieces. Things would never go back to the way they were before.
For a while, I just sat silently in the great hall. I felt like every emotion was sucked out of my body and I was just left as nothing.
More people started entering the room. The rest of the Weasley family walked in to see their son and brother lying on the ground with the others. The cries from the whole family, especially George, made tears come to my eyes.
I didn't want to feel so alone right now but I knew Draco wouldn't come back here. I spent the next couple hours there until others began to leave and go outside. I wasn't entirely sure what was going on but I managed to follow even with my messed up ankle.
I stayed towards the back to avoid getting noticed by any of the Death Eaters across from us. They all had mischievous smiles on their faces except Hagrid who stood with a boy laid limp in his arms.
"Harry Potter is Dead!" Voldemort exclaimed with a laugh.
Ginny started screaming and ran towards him but her father held her back.
"Stupid girl, Harry Potter is dead. From this day forward, you put your faith in me, " he said in a whisper. "Harry Potter is Dead!" he repeated loudly. All of the Death Eaters began cackling evilly.
"Now is the time to declare yourself. Come forward and join us, or die, " he said while holding his arms up. The entire crowd just stood silently, staring at him with sorrowful eyes.
All of a sudden from the other side we heard whispered voices.
"Draco, come on Draco, " his father called with his hand reached out. I turned and looked around, trying to find him among the crowd. Once I finally spotted his blond hair I saw that he was looking directly back at me with a frown on his pale face. I could tell how conflicted he was, he didn't want to be a part of something so terrible but he had to be with his family.
I watched as he slowly walked towards Voldemort with his head held towards the ground. I wanted so badly to call out his name and have him come back over to this side.
I never got the chance to because I heard my own voice being called from the crowd.
"Rachel, come here. Come and join us, " my father said. I tried to hide in amongst the people so no one noticed I was there. Everyone turned their heads to find me in the crowd. I didn't know what to do, I wanted to stay here so bad but my family was over there and now so was Draco.
"Rachel, join us, " my mother said softly. I took a single step forward while fighting with myself in my head. Why did life have to come with such impossible choices?
I stepped forward more and by then my feet couldn't stop. Draco was the love of my life and if he would be forced to join them then I would follow.
