Yesterday Ron Weasley had been poisoned and I knew without even asking that it was another one of Draco's failed attempts to kill Dumbledore.
I turned to see Draco walking in the room, he looked scared and guilty while staring at something on the other side of the room. I looked away to see Harry talking to Katie Bell, the girl Draco had accidentally cursed a couple of months ago.
When I looked back at where Draco was standing he was gone. I sighed and turned back to my food. I had only eaten a bit but didn't have much of an appetite these last couple of months. I pushed my plate away and stood up, walking towards the door.
"Wait up Rach, " I turned to see Neville calling to me, "I haven't talked to you in a while."
"Yeah sorry about that Neville, " I said sadly while looking down at my feet. Every time I saw Neville I felt guilty for not being able to tell him I am a Death Eater. He thinks of me as a good person but this mark makes me the opposite.
"I'm a bit worried about you, you look a little sick, " He said in a concerned tone.
I was so worried about Draco's health I hadn't even thought about my own. I hadn't been eating as much and did notice this morning that my pants were a bit to big on me.
"I'm ok, just haven't been getting much sleep, " I said with a half-smile. It was true, I wasn't able to go to sleep because the only thing going through my brain is what would happen to Draco if he failed.
"Just be careful Rach, I don't want you getting sick or something, " he said with a small smile.
Getting sick was the least of my problems right now, if only he knew.

I woke up the next morning lying on the couch in the common room. I must have fallen asleep while waiting for Draco who never came back. Where could he possibly be?
My question was quickly answered when Blaise and Pansy walked in.
"I can't believe that Harry cast that spell on Draco, " Pansy said, "he spent all night in the hospital wing."
I jumped up from the couch and ran out the door, ignoring the weird looks I got from Blaise and Pansy. I quickly walked down the hallway and up the stairs towards the hospital wing. When I finally got there I rushed towards the bed that Draco was in.
He was sleeping so I made sure to stay quiet and not wake him up. I pulled a chair over to sit beside him.
I held his hand in my own and whispered, "It's ok Draco, I'm here."
After about twenty minutes of me just sitting there he finally woke up. He opened his gray eyes slowly then turned to see me looking back at him.
"What are you doing here?" he said quietly.
"I heard you had been hurt and I immediately came to see you, " I explained. I saw the faintest smile cross his lips but it disappeared seconds later.
"You didn't have to come, " he responded.
"I know, but I wanted to, " I smiled while looking into his eyes.
He had just realized that I was holding his hand and grabbed it tighter. We sat there for what felt like an eternity. I might have never left if one of the healers didn't come over to tell me I had to go to classes.

I only had two more classes today then I could go back to check on Draco. While I was walking down the hallway to charms I saw Harry in front of me. I felt anger bubbling up inside of me as I ran over to him.
"Potter!" I yelled.
He turned around and looked at me with a confused face.
"What the hell were you thinking!" I continued yelling.
"I don't know what you are talking about?" he responded.
"You know damn well what I'm talking about. Were you really that stupid that you decided it would be such a brilliant idea to use a spell you had never heard of on Draco, " I said angrily, " You could've killed him."
"But I didn't, " he said.
"But you almost did, " I shot back just getting even more frustrated with him.
"Yeah well he could've killed Katie or Ron, " he replied.
"it's not like he did that on purpose. If he had a choice he wouldn't have."
"What do you mean?" he said.
I realized I had said way too much, I was in deep trouble.
"It doesn't matter, just don't use a spell on someone when you don't know what it does, " I snapped back, trying to get myself out of the hole I had just dug.
"Is he one of them?" Harry asked.
I hesitated but finally answered, "I have no clue what you are talking about."
He knew I was lying but as long as I didn't tell him the truth nothing would be known for sure.

Later that night Draco was allowed to return to his room. I cautiously went through the boys dorms, making sure no one saw me. I knocked on the door and waited for Draco to respond, allowing me in.
"What do you want?" he growled from the other side.
I opened the door and walked in saying, "It's just me."
I went to sit beside him on his bed. I took a deep breath then said, "Potter is on to you, we have to figure out another way soon."
"I know, I just have to fix the vanishing cabinet. I'm getting closer, I can feel it, " he said in a frustrated tone.
"It's just that it's almost May and the school year ends in June, " I said worriedly, "What if...if we can't do it."
"Can we just stop talking about it, " he said quickly.
I nodded my head before yawning and saying, "I guess I should get to sleep." I turned around to walk towards the door.
"Wait, " he said while grabbing my wrist. I turned back around and looked straight into his eyes.
"Stay, " he added, not looking away once.
"Draco, I can't-" I started to say before he interrupted me.
"Please, " he begged me, I could see the need for me to stay in his eyes.
I climbed into the bed and laid next to him just like we had over the summer. He wrapped his arm around me and I could feel his breathing against the back of my neck. This was a different side of Draco that I had never seen before. I was glad he wanted me here but he just seemed so desperate for someone.
Just last year I had seen him as this annoying git but truthfully he just didn't have the right people around him. His father was a terrible influence and his mother, although sweet, never really did much to change the way Lucious treated him. Also, his friends most likely only stuck around because they were scared of him.
Draco shouldn't have to be a part of this, but he was forced to. My eyes watered slightly as I tried to fall asleep. As I continued to think about everything my breathing got a bit shaky.
Draco pulled me in closer as if he had felt me crying. I took a deep breath and tried to think only about the good things. For example that I was with Draco right now and he had his arm around me. I could feel his heat beating up against my back.
I eventually calmed down and drifted off to sleep.
