You locked the door on your way out of your house. You started walking down the street to meet Rantaro at his house. Rantaro's house wasn't that far from yours. You and him always went to each other's houses, he was your closest friend after all. You were basically inseparable with him. Meeting him in elementary when he moved into your neighborhood, during the first day of 2nd grade. Maybe it was the best day of your life, meeting somebody like him. He was the person who made you today, and you admired him for that. Maybe you admired him a little more than you thought.

It was a hot summer day, you were waiting to get inside his house. The hot sun glistened on your skin. You looked at your neighbors lawns and saw the pretty flowers they all had outside. You then arrived at his house.

Rantaro sees you through the window and gets up to go open the door for you. He then let you inside his house and had glasses of water set up for the both of you.

"You always know how to take care of me huh Rantaro." You said to him, gulping down the glass of water. "Yea it's just an instinct." He chuckled. He was so caring towards you. That made you admire him even more. You both sat down on the couch.

"Thanks for inviting me over Rantaro, I was really bored anyways." You said to him. "Hah, yea its no big deal. I like having you over anyways." You smile at the compliment and then rested your head on his lap. He chuckles and then gently strokes your hair. You really liked it when he was like this with you, what if you were like this more often? Rantaro was a person you could trust all the time. He probably knows every thug about you. One thing you know about him is that, he loves adventures.

'Well what about adventures with other girls?' You thought. 'It's not like I would be his first option, he has a bunch of girls going after him all the time. I wonder how he feels about it?' Rantaro smiled as he plays with your hair. It's silent. But a nice and peaceful silent, not an awkward one. Then a question pops into your head.

"Hey Rantaro, how come you're not dating anybody yet?" He laughs. "I could be asking you the same thing right?" You look away a little flushed by his comment. "I mean, you got all the girls going after you all the time right? So I thought you must've done the same for one at least..." "Nah," He said. "I mean, I just really haven't thought about it that much, maybe with one person though."

You were shocked at this. He never said anything about a love interest?! 'Who can it be?' You thought. Maybe you didn't have a shot with him after all. "Well? Who is it?!" You asked him. "Hah, like I'm telling you." He winked. "Hmph. We tell each other like...everything! Why can't you just tell me this?!" You questioned him. "Fine, I'll tell you when I'm ready." "And when will that be?" You asked.

"Tomorrow." He said.

'Tomorrow?!' You thought.

"Tomorrow, meet me at the botanical garden that we usually hangout at." He said. "Sure thing! Can't wait to find out who it is!" You said smiling. That was fake smile, he could tell.

"Hey, I think you should head back home now, you know? I mean I have some plans in a little bit so..." He said. "Yea okay, bye Rantaro!" You said while waving at him. "Bye y/n!" He said waving back at you. You then headed out the front door and walked back to your house.

You had a nice time hanging out with him but, it hurt to think that he liked another girl. You were sad by it, but you had to support him, no matter what! He's your friend, how could you let him down like that? You noticed it was getting late, so you continued with the rest of your day doing your normal things, then went to sleep.

You woke up the next day with a bittersweet feeling. A bittersweet thought going through your head. You got ready to meet him at the botanical gardens. You hung out there a lot. Rantaro and you had so many memories there. You'll treasure them forever.

The botanic gardens was the place you both liked the most to spend time together. It has beautiful scenery and different kinds of plants and flowers flowing through the land. It looked so majestic. You then got ready to meet up with him there. Although, you were wondering who could it be? What kind of girls was he into? You never really asked him that before because, you were scared to. There were so many pretty girls that were after him all the time, you really couldn't compare to you. You were so insecure about it. Some of them have really good personalities too, so your chances were lower. You then walked over to the garden, and saw a Rantaro waiting there for you.

You walked over to him. He was by a tree that you always were at with him, the leaves hanging low so it looked like a big curtain. You peeped through and saw him standing there.

"Well?" You asked. "Well, I guess you want to know who I'm talking about right?" He asked. "Well yea, of course I do! It's not like I came here for nothing." You pouted. "Hey alright I see, I guess I should tell you now." He said.

"Listen, y/n, that girl I was talking about...well, it was actually you. I know I've never said anything about it before, and I've been so dumb for that, but in reality I love you y/n. The way you just act around everyone, and me. You're so funny and nice to others, it makes me smile. You're so talented in everything you do. I can't help but think about you, a lot. So I was wondering if you...thought the same about me?" His face was red. You thought it was cute. But you were shocked, so shocked! Your face was red too. Are you dreaming? Is this even real? His confession? Wait, he just confessed to you!

"O-of course I do! Rantaro, I-I love you too..."

He then pulled you into a hug, feeling his arms wrap around you. It was so nice to feel his touch.

"But what about those other girls?" You asked him. "They're way prettier and smarter and talented and nicer than me, I really thought you would pick them instead." He chuckled. "Hey don't be so down on yourself! Sure you might think that, but they'll never compare to you." He said.

"So, you'll only like me?" You asked him.

"I'll only love you y/n, I promise."
