Deja Vu in his mind

I quickly sat up hearing the familiar sound of the front door being opened and checked my alarm clock on the night stand to see it was 11am already. My bed was surprisingly really comfortable and I slept like a baby after last nights events.

"Elliot wake up now!" I looked towards my door rubbing the sleep out of my eyes so I could respond to my mother.

"Mama I am awake" I replied back earning silence but then I sat in shock as I realised what I had just said.

The sleep that was familiar in my body left immediately as I heard pans and pots being moved around in the kitchen but I was the only one home.

I grabbed the tennis racket that was leaning against my desk chair and walked out slowly to avoid any possible noise that would alert the intruder. I slowly made my way to the kitchen dropping the racket at the sight in front of me.

"Eomma?" I said staring at the lady in front of me who shared every single detail that my mother had.

"Elliot what's wrong?" She asked walking towards me with concern in her eyes as she felt my forehead.

I didn't know what to do or think but simply just stare at the figure in front of me.

"Am I dreaming?" I asked making her stare at me with confusion before going back to the pan to fry eggs.

"You'd think at this age you would stop playing video games up late" she said shaking her head.

I looked around the kitchen noticing how everything looked the same when I left my teenage years and the same year I met Rosalyn.

"Son are you ok?" She asked turning her attention away from the eggs to me.

"I'll be back" I said slowly before dashing it upstairs to my bed room that was now painted in blue and a single bed placed right in the middle of the room.

"Your father would be so proud" my mothers eyes sparkled with the precious tears that had raced towards her jaw.

"I know Mama" I replied hugging her tightly making sure that the robe wouldn't get tangled.

We stood there hugging as I came to face the wall of family photos that hit me like a truck.

My father wasn't here and quite frankly his memory seemed to be leaving me every day which seemed so stupid of me.

"I miss him" I spoke killing the silence as my mother patted my back to comfort me.

"I know my dear but he has never left you for a single second" she spoke so gently that it broke my heart on how much I missed him.

Pulling back from me she grabbed my fave before smiling and grabbing my cap off the counter.

"Now let's go before we are late to your graduation yeah?" she asked as I grabbed it before looking back once more at the frame.

"For him" she said stroking my chin before making her way to the front door as I soon followed behind her.

I looked at the alarm clock with my eyes basically poking out to see today's date which was the 31st of May. I stared at the clock for awhile just taking in everything that was hitting me but it must be a dream.

"No this was ten years ago" I whispered to myself pushing my hair back as I studied every corner of the room.

I quickly paced around my room going through the clothes and books that seemed to be physically there but why was my mind not here at all.
