Rafaela lay wide awake in bed, the tears still glistening in her eyes and silently staining her cheeks. She let the tears fall silently as she allowed herself to briefly think back to earlier that day. She's never been so hurt. She felt like she's been lied to for two years. "I'm always here for you," her voice repeats in her head. "You know I love you, right?" "I swear, I'll never hurt you. No one will ever hurt you again." All these, and more, repeat from what she's heard over the years of them together. All the lies she believed, all the promises that are now broken. She taught her love. She taught her to be herself openly. She thought this was her soulmate. The one. Lies. Less and broken promises are all it is now. None of it was real. She was tricked. It was all a fascinating dream, turned to nightmare. Then reality smacked her hard. She's not sure if she'll trust again. Not with her heart. Never again. She's done with promises, too. They don't mean anything. Not anymore. She smiles as she thinks back to the memory of the moment the whole mess started.

"Come on, just tell me already!" she snaps impatiently, waiting for Rafaela to share what's on her mind. "You can do this," Raf thinks to herself. "Um..." she starts. She inhales deeply, nervous for her reaction. "Things may be a little awkward between us after I say this, but...I like you. Like you-like you, I mean. In other words, I'm in love with you. I'm not looking for you to love me back, I just-" She was cut off by lips being pressed against her own. She kisses back, feeling the sparks fly in her touch. She feels her arms wrap around her waist, as she puts one of hers on her shoulder, the other on the back of her neck, holding her close. They brake apart after a few minutes. "You know I love you, right?" she asks, making get heart melt. She smiles, "I love you too, Case."

She smiles at the memory. Her smile grows as another memory hits her.

She holds her t-phone up to her ear, calling Casey with it. "Think we can hang out today?" she asks, hoping for a yes. "Bored? Or another fight with Lea?" she asks back. She chuckles awkwardly, "Both." She hears her sigh from the other end of the line. "Why must she be such an overprotective homophobe?" she asks. She giggles lightly, "I don't know." Casey chuckles a little, "I'll be right over." She smiles, "Okay. Love you." "Love you too, babe." She blushes and hangs up the phone.

She blushes, remembering being called "babe" time and time again. And then it fades as yet another memory flows through her mind. One of the biggest lies she's ever heard, mistaken for love and protectiveness.

They breathe heavily as they chime across to another rooftop. "Lets stop here," Raf suggests, out of breath. Casey nods, also breathless. They drop to their knees. She starts breathing faster, thinking of the monsters coming back---bigger and stronger than ever, trying to kill her and Casey. "Woah, babe, what's wrong?" Casey asks, noticing her increasing breathing. "I'm just scared," she says, looking her in the eye, "what if they come back? What if they try to hurt you again?" Casey shushes her, walking to her side. She wraps her arms around her, holding her close. "I promise, no one is going to hurt us. I'll never let that happen," she swears, stroking her shell. "Promise?" she asks, nuzzling into the crook of her neck. "Promise," she confirms. They sit there like that for a while, when Raf says, "Please, Case. Please don't ever leave me." Of course, she says, "I'm never leaving you."

The tears are fresh, flowing down her face. She can't believe she trusted her. The memories. The moments. All of them were fake. She fell in love, with a disguised soft landing of a happy relationship. She fell madly, passionately, stupidly, in love. But that hologram of a big pillow at the bottom was really the cold, hard, ground, and she's just now feeling the pain. She sits up, looking at her forearms. "Should I?" she thinks to herself. She shakes her head quickly discarding the thought. The tears fall harder as the events of earlier that week come back.
