Author's Note: This is based off yet another song. This one is "As You Go" by Red. Hope you enjoy! By the way, this takes place on the summer of fifth grade, also known as, the summer before they start middle school.

Raph and Casey sat up on a high branch on a tree in Casey's backyard. Raph put the end of the plastic water bottle to his lips. When he pulled the bottle away, he decided to break the silence that was becoming unbearable. "Starting middle school," he starts, "scary, huh?" He gives a nervous chuckle, hoping Casey would finally say something. He didn't even look over. He continued to stare at the ground, seeming clueless that he even said anything to him. "Case?" he asks, finally getting his attention. His bright green eyes were filled with concern. He looks over at him, then back at the ground. "I have to tell you something, and you're not gonna like it," he says out of the blue. He scooches closer, so there was a six-inch space between the two. "You can tell me anything, Casey. You know that," he says softly, slightly hurt that he didn't seen to trust him. He noticed him swallow hard, before closing his eyes tightly and coming out with it, quick and easy, "I'm moving."

His eyes got teary. He was right; he doesn't like it. "Oh," he said simply, trying not to let the tears fall. Her looks down at the ground this time. Casey looks over at him, noticing how those two words really hurt him. He embraces him tightly as he suddenly cries on his shoulder. "I don't want you to leave me," he whispers through sobs. Casey felt tears coming to his own eyes, knowing how much he really cares.

He holds him to his chest, rubbing his back for a few more minutes. "We can still be best friends, right?" he asks through tears. Casey holds him closer. He felt his friend's nose being nuzzles into his chest. "We can be, but we might never see each other again, so it can be really hard," he said solemnly, trying not to cry. His head snaps up, looking right into his sparkling brown eyes. His eyes glistened with more unshed tears. He wanted to ask why they couldn't see each other again, but that would just hurt him more. "Raph!" they hear Mr. Jones call, knowing that his father was here to pick him up. They turn their attention to him, then back to each other.

"Before I go," Raph says, "I know we're only eleven, but I wanted to this since we met a few years ago." He put his hand on the back of his neck, pulling him forward. He leaned in as well, letting their lips meet. He was surprised that he was doing this now, even though he never had the courage to do this before. What surprised him more is that Casey kissed back.

Casey let the tears flow freely down his cheeks. He held onto the branch for balance while he leaned back for better access. He pulled away after a minute, both boys nearly full out sobbing. "I'm sorry for the last second notice. Forgot to say, the trucks come tomorrow," Casey apologized. A soft sob escaped Raph's lips. He kissed him again, then whispered, "When you can, try to find the song 'As You Go' by Red." He smiled, "That's my message to you." Casey smiled back, "I'll do that."

The two jumped down from the tree, hand in hand. The held each other in a tight embrace, silently crying in each other's shoulders. "I love you so much, Casey. I don't want you to leave me," he whispers in his ear. They were never dating, but he's always wanted them to. "I love you too, Raph," he whispers back. They let go, staring into each other's eyes. They slowly break apart. Raph slowly let his hand slip out as he slowly walked away. Their eyes met again, not leaving until Raph is back inside the house where both their dads were.

Casey couldn't move. He was paralyzed with shock. He would've never thought that he'd have him leave there and never see him again. He dropped to his knees, covering his face with his hands. He broke down crying once more. Her cried harder as he looked up, seeing his best friend leave the house once more, never to come back to him. In an instant, he got up, ran inside the house, and grabbed his father's laptop. He quickly looked up the song, clicking the first result he gets.

Darkness creeps into daylight
You're leaving
Treasures hidden in our mind
The memories
The time we had was fleeting
The strength is just believing now

That first part reminded him of what just happened. Watching him tear up like that. He's never cried to anybody like that before. He really doesn't want him to leave, and neither does he. And what he feels really bad about is that he had no idea that their time was running out. Only Casey, Angel, and their dad knew.

The world I know can hate you
The world I know can break you
But as you go remember I'm by your side
The love within you can heal these tears that burn
And through it all just remember I'm by your side
As you go

He started tearing again. It's very true, though. The world can be hateful and abusive. What her couldn't believe is that right after confessing their love for each other, they can no longer see each other. Yet another tear went down his cheek. The moments they had together. The good times they made better for each other. The bad times made easier. His occasional hugs that only really went to him. His kiss. The two, blissful, firework-filled, passionate kisses.

Bittersweet the dreams we made
We're so young
We thought that this could never end
Don't be afraid
Never stop believing
You'll find a new beginning now

This was also true. They are pretty young to have this kind of thing happen. It isn't fair. For either of them. His dad knows that Raph is his best and only friend; and vise versa. In a way, this is a message to each other, from each other. He doesn't want him to be afraid, not die he want him to stop believing. They're wishing each other luck to find a positive new beginning.

The world I know can hate you
The world I know can break you
But as you go remember I'm by your side
The love within you can heal these tears that burn
And through it all just remember I'm by your side
As you go

I will never let you go
As you go, I will never let you go

As well as this. Even though they'll be hundreds---maybe thousands---of miles away, they can still be best friends. They never want to let each other go.

The world I know can hate you
The world I know can break you
But as you go remember I'm by your side
The love within you can heal these tears that burn
And through it all just remember I'm by your side

Author's Note: Oh my God, I nearly cried just writing this. Teared up a few times, but not really cried. This is one of the rare ones that I actually have confidence in. Hope you guys enjoyed! By the way, I'd really suggest looking this song up. I absolutely love it, and what I think is really ironic is the band is called Red. Does anyone else notice the adorableness in the irony?
